Will any Sky box work?

I had freesat from Sky installed a year ago. I have now received a letter saying that the warranty has expired on the box and offering very expensive insurance.

I don't want the expensive insurance. If the Sky box broke down, which hopefully isn't very likely, would it be possible to buy a new box from say e-bay and connect it up and put my card in.

In other words is my freesat card tied to one box only or will it work in any of them? Hope this isn't a silly question.

You can use any digibox with your viewing card.

Incidentally, digiboxes can be repaired for about £35. The main advantage of a such a repair is that the engineers will use quality components, meaning no more PSU or tuner failures. What make and model have you got?

Of course, you can pick a digibox up for less than £35 on Ebay. The choice is entirely yours.

As Wiil states, a FreesatfromSky Card will work in any Sky Receiver.

If your Receiver should fail, just go to your local car boot sale, buy another, I get them for around a fiver each usually.
