Do companies still buy out contracts?

Yes, but only the last 3 months. They would be taking a huge loss to buy out 13 months.
If you need a new handset it would be much cheaper to buy a cheap £10-20 handset from your network and use that until your contract runs out.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

You could trade in your exsisting handset at carphone warehouse and then pay the difference on a new phone, however the older your exisisting handset is, the less they will offer you for it. If you go ahead, just pop your contract sim into the pay as you go phone:happyhear0
