Depending on your location.....these places listed below are reputedly better qualified than the technicians at Honda.

If the Civic buying boys and girls see a stamp from one of these guys below in the service book when you come to sell, they know the car has been serviced with love by people who know these cars inside out and are passionate about great service and used genuine parts and more importantly high quality oil such as Silkolene Pro S instead of the generic oil the dealers use.

    TGM Motorsport in Fleet
    ABP Motorsport in Crewe
    TDi North Warrington
    TDI South Thurrock
    Unit 8 Lancashire
    CPL Motorsport Essex

They usually cost about half what the dealer charges. In my case the dealer wanted £199 for an interim service on my Type R and if you look in the book, it is an oil change and a few checks, which were carried out on my MOT a month or so ago, so I told them this and they were not amused, especially when I told him it was £106 at TGM.

Ps keep the oil level topped up if you hit VTEC a lot...seen too many Type R engines needing new crankshafts and bearings which = £ouch

Exactly the point I was making, but unfortunately the majority of ordinary punters will not find out about the real enthusiast independents.
  • Even worth a drive if you are not near, as you will save more on the service than the fuel to get there than by going to the dealer.

If the second service is considered a 'big' service, then I guess that's not a bad price. It would be due brake fluid change and whatever Honda say it should have. It wouldn't take long to do - if you are selling it, then it would no doubt please the uninformed anal folk to see a dealership stamp in the book. Dealerships have the experts, apparently........ ;)

Another vote for the dealer guys. I don't doubt the ability of the specialist to do a decent service and arguable a better service than some dealers but as you are intending to sell the car this year, a non dealer stamp will have an even greater effect on the residual value in the car.

    £220 does not seem
    extortionate
to me. Do you really think you will get it much cheaper and is it worth the hassle risk of going elsewhere?

If you can't afford to pay for maintenance, I would suggest you avoid buying high performance cars.
