I know how you feel, I had my purse taken from Tesco's and did not notice until hubby called me 4-5 hours later and asked me to buy him something on the way home, to make matters worse my dad had just died,

Thankfully no money was taken from my account and since then I have opened a new account where I keep all my extra savings and keep the account with my card very low, and just move the money via the net when I need to make a purchase.

I hope you get some help from the police when they visit, please let us know how you get on, maybe one of the buildings near you have cctv who caught the person entering and leaving your building

Aw this thread is sad..I hate hearing of innocent peopkle getting robbed like this..and the theives don't think about the knock on effects (thosre apart from financial loss)

I have become much more cautious these days, and really resent that I cannot happily doze on a train home, or leave my coat while I go to the loo for fear of being rbbed.

  • Hi everyone

I thought I'd update you following the visit from the police yesterday afternoon.

Basically, as nobody saw this person take my purse, there is not an awful lot they can do. We don't have CCTV in the building and the offices next to mine were empty at the time the theft took place so nobody on the same floor saw a thing. They did say that a similar incident occurred in a town 5 miles away, a purse was taken and then the thief rang to obtain card details, and apparently, the poor women was so convinced she gave him her pin number  This is obviously what he was planning to ask me next but I cottoned on.

The police took a statement, but in their own words said this was a formality and unlikely to result in anything.

I've been checking my online account on a (nearly) hourly basis, as I am still a little wary, but thankfully, all activity on my accounts seem normal with no strange transactions.

I've received my new pin today so hopefully my new card is not far behind, as I've had to loan money from OH in the meantime.

Thanks again everyone, and if I actually hear anything further, I'll let you know.

In the meantime, please look after your belongings and do not give out any personal information to anyone you are unsure of.
Its nice to be important but more important to be nice!

Good to see you're being so positive about a really horrible experience.
