Incorrect details on PCN

I parked my car close to the Emirates Stadium on my way to the match. I parked in a residential street as I have a Blue Badge. Bit of a !!!!!! though - I completely forgot to put my badge up before I left my vehicle. I returned to find a ticket on my windscreen. I thought I would appeal offering the mitigating circumstance of my crap memory (symptom of my disabling illness) but then I noticed that the ticket actually had the incorrect registration number on it. Instead of an 'F' the warden had put 'E' am I still liable for this fine or is the ticket invalid?

I'm on day 3 of my 14 days so if anyone can help??? ...... cheers

If your correct, the ticket is invalid, just appeal it you should get off.
  • Don't bother appealing, now they have given the ticket with the wrong reg on they are unlikely to find you. Someone else will probably get the NTO. Should they check and find the correct number they will be screwed as they cannot cancel and reissue. Come back in the future if you hear anything(unlikely). this only applies to a council pcn. If its a police Fixed penalty Notice then its just easier to pay up as its basically the driver who is being penalised and not the rk of the car.

You are wrong, if its a Police Ticket, and its not 100% correct, its invalid, but if you pay it, (Most people wont check)they wont refund/or tell you.
  • It needs the OP to confirm its a council pcn or police Fpn, my money is on council.

    Sorry but peter_the_piper is correct.

Minor discrepencies on a FPN can be corrected at a later date using something called the "slip rule". I would class an E instead of F as minor!

Councils don't have this advantage so if it's a council PCN it can't be changed & is invalid.

How will they find correct vehicle and registered keeper when they have the wrong VRN ?

It seems to me they would need assistance in that the poster would have to contact them and provide correct information. Absent that occurring what is the likely outcome.

I suppose they could always cross check likely similar nos on the PNC, that are that model/colour. But if its council they will have to have a good reason, i would be surprised if the Police co operate

If it is a council PCN then the wrong VRN is fatal and that is the end of the matter.
If it is the police they can't go fishing.

If you are an Arsenal fan then you should pay it.
  • Thanks for your input guys. The PCN was issued by Islington Council and states that photographs were taken of the car illegally parked. I am still not sure whether to appeal or whether to just ignore the thing. I am scared I will end up having to pay £120 if I ignore it.
