My mum has existing BT line and package.
I put her on plusnet for £5.99 a month.

Always had good service from plus net and she doesn't get any where near the 10Gig allowance

If your mum - or you - has an O2 mobile and is in the O2 LLU area (standard, premium or pro packages) then O2 is probably worth a look. They have very good customer service and a good connection quality. You only need a pay as you go (or pay monthly) and only have to top up £10 every 3 months... I think it works out cheaper to get one and get the £5/mth discount even if you don't use it.

Also agree with Plusnet for £5.99 if you can get that deal. TalkTalk Essentials is also very cheap, but debatable and not as good as O2 or Plusnet.
