Not trolling at all, just stating facts, it just seems that some people actually think that the banks owe them some kind of free credit.
They do not.0 -
Rates of interest being paid on all accounts, (current, savings, etc) should be printed on EVERY statement sent out.
The cheque system should also be maintained. To withdraw it would be discriminatory against older and vulnerable people who need use a simple banking process for paying bills, sending money to people, etc and who do not have access to the internet or a credit card.0 -
perhaps there should be rules like here in France where going overdrawn unauthorised is tantamount to theft. Continued breaches could result in having your bank account withdrawn.....!I have accounts with Barclays in the Uk, NatWest in Jersey, Bank of New Zealand in Auckland and Siam Commercial Bank in Thailand.
I have never had anything but exceptional service from all of them, but then again I have never been overdrawn and - more importantly - I take an interest in my financial wellbeing.
I can't help thinking that a lot of common gripes about banks come from people who - frankly - don't understand banking 101 principles and bring the problems upon themselves.0 -

I changed banks last year to A+L following their incentive to change. After receiving £100 payment, in one year they have charged me £100 in "unauthorised" overdraft fees, which I cannot see when I log on to my internet banking. When I put this to them in the call centre, they just say what they have on their screen is different to what I can see. I cannot manage an account like this. This is unfairness at it's best - how can banks get away with this? I even spoke to a branch manager who looked into it and agreed with me, but his hands are tied because the call centre controls the current accounts. I NEVER incurred charges in 10 years of banking with my old bank. It should be illegal to charge if a customer cannot see the same thing on their screen as the bank can on theirs.0

I have been a LLoydsTSB customer for many years and have a had a classic currents account with them and have had my income of just over £1000 a month paid into my account. I noticed that if I changed my account to to a classic plus account then I would receive 2.5% interest. When I went to the bank to make the change the manager said I would need a meeting with their financial advisor which I refused. I was then informed I could update my account on line. It clearly states on line it can only be changed to a classic plus account at branch level which I printed and copied to show the manager. I returned with this information and it took the bank manager less than one minute to change my account to a classic plus account. I cant understand why the information to upgrade my account was never pointed out to me as they must have realised that my account was eligible for the upgrade! Anyway if anybody reading this belongs to Lloyds and has their pay going into a classic account you may as well add the plus and get the 2.5% interest.
