bank saying i didnt put money in.......

Options
on saturday i went into hsbc and paid a bill for my sister using the deposit point - i placed some cash in one of the envelopes and made out a slip and put it all in - now, they have returned it all to her and said i had never put the money in.........

aaarhghgh - i know i definitely did, but, this has now made me out to be a thief to my sister - she believes me, but, deep down maybe she might have doubts?

where does she stand?

interesting - sister said she has just been down to the local newsagents and was chatting about what happened and the guy said he had the same thing happen to him last year at the same bank - his was £200 though - and he knew of a few people it has happened to............me thinks an investigation should begin eh?

Sounds a bit suss does that - if they wont let you see the CCTV - which they may not there and then because of data protection - think you may have to apply for it - you could always take it to the police and see what they say!

Was it quite alot of money?

I queried this exactly with Lloyds Bank at Bluewater as they only allow cash deposits via the deposit point. The whole system seems open to abuse to me.

Their answer was that they have CCTV trained on the area, but short of showing each bill clearly to the camera as you put it in the envelope, how can you prove your case?

Good luck with demanding the images. I hope that they show exactly what you need. Make sure you're making a formal complaint and don't take no for an answer.

They probably will not allow you to get a copy of the video but will review it themselves. On a seperate matter I attempted to get a copy of the video from outside a bank as we believed it captured an RTA involving one of our policyholders and whilst they did confirm that it did capture it they wanted £300 to give us a copy as they would have to send it off to be edited so that the faces of all their customers would be obscured (and other vehicle regs)
