Thanks for your posts mobilejunkie, I find your views very interesting.

I have used phones4U and e2save in the past and have considered m2yd and osps. Could you let me and others have your views on the reliability of the above and any other companies which you think are worth considering. Not too much detail asked for just a league table please.

Thanks,

Fortyfoot

Phones4u, dialaphone and my2d are all good with cashbacks - they are all part of one group Phones4u (dialaphone used to be a separate company till a few years ago and was good before and good now with cashbacks).

e2save, osps are all cpw - they trouble you have with cashbacks with cpw depends on how careful you are and well informed you are about t&c. They all operate under 60 day period to send in claims but you have to work out your dates for sending in claims properly.

People argue cpw are not good but its also customer responsibility to understand the agreement. I have used them in past and found the date calculations a bit of a muddle (its improving a little). I still prefer to use the phones4u group for cashback deals.

Directly CPW web site no longer does cashback deals, and lets its subsidiary companies like e2save, osps do all of that.

The additional headache with cpw seems to be their customer service (as you can see from the threads on here) - the ability to answer calls and emails or slowness as case maybe.

Thanks again for your help, my present one is with phones4U and they have been great. Before I was with e2save and they were very poor.

It is not as straightforward as suggested as far as all cpw companies are concerned. Understanding, complying and with the t&c and being able to prove you did is absolutely NO guarantee of payment without the real threat of court action. They change their t&c and make new ones up as they go along (often contradictory to the t&c either at the point of sale or after), send out (again) contradictory claim information in emails and letters, put false claim dates on their claim site details and generally have total disregard for their customers and the actual t&c they sign up to. Provided you are prepared to sue they are unlikely to go bust and (usually) if you claim correctly they cough up (though one dealer - Mobiles.co.uk - takes forever to pay despite all that they say), but when they selectively choose to deny valid claims and it therefore depends on whether one of you particular claims is selected for "special treament". Numerous loyal customers have found that complacency and previous success counts for nothing since they decided to treat customers (sadly) thus. They may have some of the best remaining deals, but they are the opposite to Phones4u/Mobiles2yourdoor.
  • have the phones4u group stopped doing decent deals i cant find much tbh. i need a couple of deals soon and will probably use bmp again but they are slow at giving cash.

Yeah most of best deals disappeared from them in later half of last year - T-mobile no longer sell through them. I managed to get a very good deal in April with dialaphone. There are still some good offerings but they cost more with higher end phones.

I also entered into a new deal with buymobilephones in November (will see how that works out on when I send my first claim sometime in March or April).
