Sainsbury free food storage boxes

Hi, I got 4 boxes today at my local store in Grantham. They were on a display stand in the main entrance, there was no signage or information about them. I took them to checkout along with my shopping and asked the assistant to check if they were still free, she had no idea about the offer but they scanned as 1p with the 1p taken off and put all 4 through for me. :j
Thanks to OP.:beer:0 -

I mean, fancy receiving huge boxes which they never open - per invisiblecabbage at Bridgnorth.
How bad can their internal communication be - as presumably there should have been a message sent to the store manager about this in advance, and some paperwork attached to the box itself ?!!
I mean it could have been a bomb.....but no one bothered to check what was in the box or read the paperwork.:(
You can tell it is Sunday, and I am heading back to work tomorrow to a similar lunatic environment where simple human communication is seen as archaic !!!
Rant over:p
Must appreciate every moment away from work that I can...stay calm old bag, stay calm.....:)
either the comms hadnt got through or the comms hadnt been actioned or the message hadnt been passed to the right person to hand them out or there just wasnt enough to do it0 -
I knew nothing about this offer til I read about it online last night on MSE. Duly sent my DH in to my local one at EK Kingsgate and he got one when he paid for his shopping. Small square one. DH never got a leaflet about what to do with leftovers like other posters have. The box will come in handy though!
Its quite bad that there seems to be no consistency with branches as to how many are given out, where they are given out, etc. If its supposed to be a publicity stunt they haven't done very well and not informed their staff or their customers very well. Better luck next time Sainsburys...brief your staff better!0 -
My Sainsbury's were giving 2 to each customer - 2 different sizes, we were being told we had to take them to the till with our shopping and they would be scanned as free. Some people actually refused them. I took 2, as they are fab for carrying snacks around for my DS. I did today, and had no problems with with lids.0

I work at Sainsbury's on the checkouts. We were giving them to the customers with their shopping and some people turned round & said 'that's not mine'. Was suppose to be one per customer. We had someone giving them out at the main entrance as well. We thought we still had another pallet of them out the back so went to check & thankfully there was not pallet of them! We still had some left at close today. Our store was only giving the rectangle ones.
I tried to get a lid off one, took me about 5 minutes.0 -
If you missed out on one of these....then you are indeed very lucky!!!
I am damned if I can get mine open. It just will not open! I will never want to use this again. These things are utterly useless. The lids are far too tight. That's why they are giving them away for free.
If I can remember to take it with me when I go back to the store, they can have it back. Otherwise, it's for the recycling bin.
Just who are Sainsbury's trying to kid, that these are any damned use whatsoever?0 -
my local store has finally caught up, there is a display at the front of the store with no mention of them being free, and a huge pallet full of un-opened boxes behind it.
Ive picked up 2, the sa didnt mention it when i purchased my shopping but there were 3 women filling carrier bags with these so they may not last all that long anyway !!
(cant open either of mine
