Sainsbury free food storage boxes

Went to Coventry sainsbury's today and there were boxes upon boxes sealed, and 1 open box of these just inside the doorway - no signage, nobody offering them to anyone, nobody even near the boxes.
My gf took one out the box and went to customer services to ask, and was informed by a burly security guard that it was 1 per lot of shopping purchased.
A young girl around the age of 9 was picking out 2 boxes, 1 for her, 1 for her mum, and the security guard was very stern with her and was all "ONE per shopper!" and she tried to explain that 1 was for her and 1 was for her mum, and he again spoke down to her in an aggressive tone that she could only have 1. Idiot.
I took one, and my gf took one, and we paid seperate for our shopping.
I don't understand why my Sainsbury's was only allowing 1 per shopping, and yet some are giving them away. There were boxes of these things, and NOBODY taking them!

My OH works in a local sainsburys, Yesterday he said they had easily 1000, today they had none left, Sounds like the staff in his store were giving people however many they wanted too. Doesn't quite seem fair or what this offer was about :mad:0

I got one of each size yesterday, one went through the till at 1p but the 1p was then taken off.
They were putting out red coloured colanders at 37p when I was in, sturdy plastic and hopefully a lot easier to clean than the metal one I have.0 -

The Bane of my life - lack of Communication - in this case between Sainsbury head office and their stores.
I mean, fancy receiving huge boxes which they never open - per invisiblecabbage at Bridgnorth.
How bad can their internal communication be - as presumably there should have been a message sent to the store manager about this in advance, and some paperwork attached to the box itself ?!!
I mean it could have been a bomb.....but no one bothered to check what was in the box or read the paperwork.:(
You can tell it is Sunday, and I am heading back to work tomorrow to a similar lunatic environment where simple human communication is seen as archaic !!!
Rant over:p
Must appreciate every moment away from work that I can...stay calm old bag, stay calm.....:)0 -

At Sainsbury's there is a daily information email which goes to all stores. Details of this (officially called Love Your Leftovers Day) was in the email on Friday so any stores that did not act upon it you can blame the manager! I was surprised there was no TV advertising or prior in store advertising to back it up though.0 -
Yes I got one too, only being given to customers when paying at the till.
Not a bad little box, except I can't get the lid off!!! :rotfl:
Even my husband struggled to get the lid off the box. Can't imagine using it for storing food as I'd probably end up spilling the contents everywhere with the effort needed to open it! If you didn't get a box, you haven't missed much!0 -
We got a couple of these yesterday at sainsbury's in Hempstead Valley, Kent. They will be very handy for my OH to take his chesse ect for his Jacket potato that he has for lunch at work.
