Coast refund

Hi

My husband bought me a dress from Coast on Christmas Eve which he gave to me Christmas Day but it wasnt suitable. Today is the first chance he has had to return it which is within their specified time for a refund anyway. It has been in the Coast bag in the car waiting to be returned since just after Christmas and when he went today for a refund they have refused him saying that it is too creased to put back on sale. It hasnt been thrown around and it has been looked after so this is just general creasing of the material that has taken place whilst it has been in the bag.

Does anyone know where we stand with this please.

Tricky one, creased garments are not damaged, though they could say you have worn it now and they wont exchange/refund on that principal alone, saying it is now second hand and unsellable as new.

Not sure where you stand on this.

Yeah I can understand how they may think ive worn it. I havnt but I have no way of proving this.

I dont want to actually iron it but I think I will have to try to steam iron it and see if it looks better then. Maybe even putting it through the tumble dryer will sort it.

Thank you for the help but I suspect its destined for ebay,

Personally, i would pull the thread out of the seams and claim its rubbish, and faulty, and go for a full refund, but i don't know how you stand on these things if you would do it or not, you may be too honest :D

Yes, try and get the creases out by a gentle means. Please don't damage it deliberately though, which would be wrong, and not within the MSE ethos.

You could try hanging it up in the bathroom and see if the shower steam gets the creases out?

Given it was obviously a Christmas present, were Coast expecting your OH to wrap it flat????? They were the ones that put it in the bag initially...

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Dont worry, I wont be damaging it on purpose. Im going to try tumble drying it and hopefully that will make the creases drop out.

CHR15 i dont ask for surprises, I havnt the patience for them :)

I wouldn't refund if you were in my store I have been in retail management for 20 years +
Any item left in a bag for weeks in in a car boot in this cold then mild weather will have become damp & creased
Why did you not leave it hanging up until you could return it ?
You need to return things in the condition you purchased them ie...saleable

All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.
