Lack of decent houses on the market?

Look in cheaper areas then. Simpletomstickland wrote: »I didn't say that there were no decent properties around. Just not many in the price range I'm interested in in the areas I'm interested in.0 -
Why is this a surprise to anyone?
a. The housing market is always quiet in the winter. Gardens don't look at their best at this time of year. Sellers who are not in a hurry usually wait til spring to put their house on the market.
b. Newsflash - the housing market is depressed at the moment! Lenders have tightened up their criteria. Sellers think that prices have dropped. People who don't need to sell are staying put.0 -
They did the "we need to build more" lack of supply routine on bbc. It's appalling reporting from them to let anyone get away without asking them about the 850,000 empty homes in the UK0

Empty homes that are not for sale don't help anyone looking though. And half of those supposedly "empty" homes are actually only empty for around 6 months or so for probate, refurbishment, etc.
There are only 650,000 houses for sale in the UK, down from 1.1 million in 2007.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

We accepted an offer on our property and the buyers have moved very quickly (mortgage in place, they're in rental.)
We set about arranging viewings and organised 10 across the weekend. We got to the 6th house on Saturday, thinking we'd never find anything and would need to start arranging a rental property for a couple of months, when we found the place we both loved.
Yes, there are slightly less houses on the market than there were last time, but they also aren't selling fast, so you have a chance to sell before your 'perfect' house disappears. There are houses up for sale out there, just obviously not the ones that you want.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”
