Lack of decent houses on the market?

I've been looking on rightmove for a few months now. Things were quiet before Christmas and I thought I'd wait for the new year to see if more properties turned up.
I'd have to say that January has been pretty quiet.
I'm thinking now that maybe it'll be spring before more properties are put on the market. Maybe the election?
I certainly feel that it will be worth waiting. There's a distinct lack of choice in certain areas.
Just wondering what other people think.

I always keep an eye on Rightmove in the area we are moving to, although we are about to move Im still interested in whats still coming on the market in our price range...... for the past 3 months its been v quiet and what has come on the market hasnt really been much cop. However thats my opinion, those properties could be just what other people are looking for!0

If the garden and /or light is a feature of your home, it makes sense to wait til Spring.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Indeed very few decent houses. Had a chat with an estate agent who confirmed many people wanted to put their houses on market in early January but were put of by snow. EA's are apparently very busy valuing houses now and she expects many to be available for viewings in late January / early February. But at the moment there's nothing to choose from really. Some EA's I registered with keep calling me just to say they haven't got any suitable properties.0

Yes, it looks like they are trying to scare people into buying now, in case there are no houses left. Your choice as to whether to fall for itHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

There are always decent properties around, as long as you are prepared to spend enough.0

Same. Was deadly quiet in December. Then in January there started to be one or two properties per week similar to mine put on the market.
Now there are new adverts on a daily basis on Findaproperty.com which leads me to believe that it is ramping up and there will be loads on the market in the next month or two as the usual rush towards Easter progresses.0 -
I just put my property on the market today

Dreadful photos as dark, dreary and chucking it down with rain! Agent said he would pop back on a bright day!
Not on Rightmove yet but will post link when have it.
We are in Heanor, Derbyshire if that's any good for anyone!
£125k, spacious 2 double bed detached, dining kitchen, lounge, garden room, utility, garage, large garden - fab, quirky house with lots of character & loads of potential & lots of space (well I am biased!)
All offers considered lol!!
Good luck everyone!
BTW the agent said he had 30% fewer houses on his books than this time last year. Houses have been selling but not many coming on the market in our area.
