The OP should have insisted the correct info was inserted. Had it gone unoticed I'm sure they would be very happy with the outcome, but as it went against him......

In any event, putting down student accomodation can easily compromise a persons otherwise good credit score as halls of residence and other sharing arranmgments cannot be computed by 'dumb' credit scoring software as the software designers tend not to build in a mechanism to calibrate such info.

The OP had every oppotunity to insist the correct history was input, or to decline to deal with Abbey.

Again it's this grey area - a perfectly good applicant compromised by the blind blundering software lender use to assess risk. An applicant that's lived in halls of residence may be the model applicant but dumb software designers do not build enough 'sense' into the system.

[QUOTEmortgagenewbeetearing  I offered to give my university addresses to them on application ( electoral roll) but the advisor said there is no need :mad:[/QUOTE]
  • UPDATE:

The appeal will be sent to the underwriters within the next 24/48 hours and I should hear back before Friday close.

Apparently they have a procedure to follow ... I smell bullcrap :rotfl:
  • UPDATE:

    No news, no phone call.

It will be 10 days tomorrow and if there is no update someone is going to get an ear full. First they said 7 days and then 10 days - if they can't sort it out by tomorrow, Abbey can go to hell.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

    I'll take my business elsewhere.

The Abbey claim to be pretty much up to date so don't go easy on them!

  • abbey has changed their proceedure recently. All underwriters we built a relationship and could talk round have gone. A recent client was declined because he didnt earn an eztra £60 a year. lots of appeals going through. think you will be ok.
  • Spoke to them today on the 10th day. No news, they haven't heard back from the underwriters.

I was told to call back on Monday to see if there is news. Same old !!!!, just a different day. I asked them what if there is no news on Monday, will I be told next week, the week after that or next month.

Am just bloody annoyed, first they say 7 days, then 10 days, then they say wait another day. Annoyed. How hard is it to come to a decision?

it's not acceptable, you really need to take this to next level....they will continue to push you around otherwise and you will get no where.

Have you raised this with the complaints team on the number I posted yet?

These are the only people that will be able to get this sorted for you and they have time limits within which this should be done.

Ring the number and insist on dealing with a manager due to the fact nearly 2 weeks has been wasted. Tell them that you are publicly posting about this on forums, tell them you won't hesitate to take this to FOS. Tie them down to when they will ring you back and if they don't comply ring them and demand an explanation as to why they haven't done as they promised.

You really need to go bananas with them, I know they get shouted at a lot but don't let that deter you from shouting too. Don't be rude, just very, very insistent.
    Happily an ex mortgage broker!
