How many days do you make clothes last?

Some cool comments.
I think I will try and find somewhere to store the aired items seperately, which I think you're supposed to anyway as I think i read that moths are attracted to worn clothes more than freshly laudered, the sweat or something.
As for the bedding,I started to leave this longer as others have said ,and we have come to no harm lol, wish I had done this years ago. When i think of the pressure I put on myself, and the time I wasted to keep to a standard that was set by no one but me i feel sad,I could have been doing cool stuff instead, but never mind new year new plans.
Thank you pink-winged thats really kind of you,I shall have a cup of tea and a nosy round those threads.
Take care all

Joking aside, before we married first husband lived at home and was expected by dragon mother to wear his underwear for two days, to 'save washing'
....and yet she made such a fuss about sweeping the path to the front door: double standards or whatI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Skirts - 2-3 days
Tops - 2 days if not stained - normally one day - I am terribly messy.
Cardies/Jumpers - every week or so of wear, sooner if dirty etc.
Undies - daily.Put the kettle on.0 -
when they are dirty....
so thats daily for pants, socks and hubbys sweaty shirts and less frequently for anything elsePeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Underwear clean every day - no two ways about that one!
Work skirts (navy blue/black) - sometimes 2 for the week, and sometimes 1 (depends on the weather - if it's raining badly, then I'll change it as I wear long skirts and they get grimey around the hem area).
Work tops (white/pale blue) - clean every day. Other tops (mostly coloured) I expect to get two wearings from them.
OH doesn't like his casual wear to be washed every time it's worn (apart from t-shirts) so they all get the sniff test.
Household stuff: teatowels&dishcloths - clean every day/towels - clean bath and hand towels twice a week as we hang them over the bannister to air off/bedding - clean every two weeks.0 -
Underwear/sockets etc: wear once
Loose fitting garments like trousers/shirts: wear 2-3x depending on where and how long for and if there are any marks/dirt on them; if it's dirty it's washed even if it's only been worn 10 minutes
Casual wear like jeans, cardigans, hoodies: 3-5x
Work shirts/skirts: wear once
Work dresses: 1-2x, depending how they are after the first day
Plain black work trousers: wear twice
Bedding: it's only ever me and I don't over-sweat, so (weather/season depending) 1-2 weeks.
Towels: it's only me, so I am not creating mucky towels where I haven't washed properly after stripping down car engines, so same as the bedding 1-2 weeks.
But when I get home I immediately slip into Waynetta gear: leggings and a loose top, just to save on wearing out "proper clothes". My Waynetta stuff tends to be washed once a week - it's only used indoors so nobody sees it.0 -

I mentioned this to 'real' husband (of almost 25 years) who casually remarked that this was what his mother did with him and BiL when young, and his father too.
It made me wonder if old habits die hard..... NO, NO!!!! must resist [STRIKE]sniffing [/STRIKE] asking MiLI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
What an interesting thread! I wash undies and tights every day and work dresses once every 2 or 3 wearings (work in a fancy shop and they're all hand wash only which is a right palaver!)
Jammies every 2 days, towels maybe twice a week and bedding once a week without fail. I iron the duvet cover too!!!
My mother thinks it's DISGUSTING to wear clothes twice. She changes her undies at least twice a day and does two loads of washing a day still and there's only her and my Dad at home.'The road to a friends house is never long'0
