How many days do you make clothes last?

Hi
Strange question I know but I am making an effort to wear clothes longer before washing, as I was told it makes clothes last longer and there really is no need to wash things as often as I did.
Towels used to be a pain for me as when they were wet and thrown on the floor, they to me were dirty, now I dry them and get loads more usage.
DH is okay about wearing things again, but DD is a little harder to persuade.
My woolies look better for it and the house isn't covered in wet washing as it used to be,but I just wondered what you guys considered to be the norm for you,and maybe I could get some tips to make things last even longer.

If it doesn't smell and doesn't have a stain, I'd wear it again. we have a chair to hang clothes that have been worn but aren't dirty.0

Well I definitely wear things way more than once but I found I was forgetting what was half worn!
So I have some pieces of craft foam about 2-3 cm sq with a hole punched in the middle. When I rehang an item in the wardrobe one of the squares gets popped over the coathanger hook then I can easily what needs to be worn again!0 -
For clothes my general rule is that if it is worn all day next to the skin it goes in the wash e.g. Knickers, bra, close fitting shirts/t-shirts.
Other bits like cardigans get aired and worn again. Generally I wear work trousers for two days before washing them, usually not two days in a row.
I guess it depends on what you do in your clothes all day, if you work out on the roads all day sweating like a hog then I guess they all need a wash each time but if you are a desk or sat at home all day they can take a bit more wear.
When I get home from work I change immediately into comfy clothes (which dont get cleaned quite so often) and hang up the bits I can wear again straight away rather than sitting in them all night. You can stand there and agonize........

If its not dirty as such I would wear it twice. After that I think it needs freshening up by washing. Sometimes my kids get 3 wears out of a school sweatshirt as they also wear a shirt and vest/tshirt underneath.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I try and get 2 days from my work clothes but depends how much flour is on them as I'm a baker! I might wear my home around clothes all week . Underwear is definitely daily though!:)
I sometimes put my work clothes on the line if its a bright and breezy day like today to 'freshen up'.
I used to have a clean set of work clothes and home clothes every day but over last few months have reduced this drastically. Have gone from doing the washing every day to every other day now...the clothes that is:rotfl:Less is more0 -
I' wouldn't feel comfortable if i didn't put clean socks and clean underwear on everyday, but if i've only been around the house i'll have the same jog bottoms and tee shirts all week. Even in the house though i get changed if i need to do any cleaning or gardening etc.
Going out to work or for days/nights out i change all the time.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Aliadds - wehre are you? - it is horrible and wet here in London today.
Underwear and socks - clean daily.
If going to work, tops next to skin get changed daily, cardis and trousers will get worn a couple of times (not consective days - hang to air). If at home, jog pants and t-shirt changed daily (cause pottering and cleaning)0 -
We are me, Husband, 3year odl, 4 year old.
We used to all have clean clothes every day plus girls new PJ's every night and all bedding changed every week.
Me - Now I wear clean bra, knickers and top everyday - jeans/trousers and jumper ok to wear a couple more times
Husband - is wearing work shirts for two days which I think is a bit mingy but he's happy - he doesn't wear the same shirt two days in a row so he doesn't look like a stinker! He will wear jeans / top for quite a few days as he changes into them in the evenings when he changes out of his suit.
Girls - clean knickers, vest and tights everyday but I am keeping them in same outfit (top and skirt) a few times until it has marks / dirt / food / paint on it - clean PJ's every three nights.
Bedding - us still changed weekly but girls every fortnight - they have a bath every night before they go to bed so I figure they can't be that dirty
I have noticed in France peeps seem to wear clothes for a few days before changing them, more so than at home. H reckons there are guys at work who just wear the same outfit all week .
It is certainly more Martin :money:and a lot less hassle to be a bit filthier!
