Marmite you love it or hate it

  • I absolutely hate it! I lived in a Childrens' home betweeen the ages of six and ten and on Saturdays we would have a huge plate of Sandwiches to take from:- Marmite, Sandwich Spread, Chocolate Spread, Lemon Curd etc. You had to finish whatever you took. I remember accidently picking Marmite from time to time and nearly being sick trying to finish it! Ugh even the smell makes me heave these days!

As a lover of marmite i have to say that marmite sandwiches are the bottom of my list for how i would want to eat it, as my mum used to make them with more butter than marmite and it was such a strange combination, kind of felt like there was no filling at all, i need some filling in my bread :D

    Bake Off Boss!
Have always loved marmite since I was a small child.
My favourite way of eating it is on hot buttered crumpets.
I often have marmite on toast topped with fresh tomato & pepper for breakfast - Low calorie & yummy.
When I was a child my Mum often made marmite pinwheels out of the scraps of pastry she had left over when baking.
She spread marmite on pastry, rolled it up then cut it into slices before baking in the oven.
I also love marmite on toast topped with baked beans or tinned tomatoes.

Sometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. (originally posted by kidcat)

It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!

I love marmite! Does anybody remember donkey's years ago when on kids tv they did marmite tapping? Basically taping air into marmite with a spoon to make it lose its colour? When we was in Russia on a trip (think 1999?) so might have been time of Andy Peters n Gordon the Gofer - and got our table doing it, they thought I was nuts (still debatable) and it went pale after alot of tapping! Good fun....
At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)

Love it. When I went to boarding school, the dinner's were dire and the tea, terrible. So I used to go for it at breakfast: bowl after bowl of cereal, and stacks of Marmite and marmalade (together, obviously!) on toast. I am 6'3", and I attribute this directly to Marmite. It is the growing up spread. :D

However, I can't distinguish any significant difference between

    marmite.gif

    and

    Marmite-XO.jpg

Which I'm gutted about. Thought it was going to be SuperTurboMarmite, but it's not. :(
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I USED to utterly detest Marmite, now it's... alright. I can take it or leave it. Sometimes I'll fancy a bit if it's there, or maybe I will pick something else, but I don't want to vomit at the idea of it and don't go about going "Oooh Marmite, it's amazing, I must have some now!" either.

Apparently this is impossible, an affront to nature, and I ought to be taken out and shot. Sorry.
