Hen Party Ideas?!

Hello Folks,
My closest, longest friend is getting married this year, in the summer. We have known each other since we went to playgroup and had a scrap over a green tractor She is fantastic and I will be one of her bridesmaids. Problem is...I am totally clueless regarding hen parties and it will be down to me and her other bridesmaids to organise something
Making things a little harder, she recently was diagnosed with MS (non progressive they believe). I am not sure whether that now means going on a nights 'drinking' as a good plan. I would love to do something special for her but just dont know...
Anyone got any unique suggestions that wont necessarily involve drinking the town dry or anyone getting their clothes off?! (husband offered to do this, brave soul, but I kindly turned him down )

why not go away for a pamper day and rent a place for a 'girlie' sleepover
(you'd probably get a better response on the weddings and anniverseries board- there have been lots of posts about hen nights there.)0 -
we had an Ann Summers party for a friends he night, the above idea is good also:oIn 2009 i finally gave up smoking Have been smoke free for 3 years!!!!!!

Can't remember where it was (think London) but friend of a friend organised singing lessons in a recording studio for ten of them and then they produced a cd as a keepsake at the end of the day - apparently very good giggle Also something nice to keep.
Other thing a pamper day - not sure where you are but know the spas at centre parcs centres are BEAUTIFUL & AMAZING so may well be worth looking at those and see if they do day spas etc. I could have stayed there the entire stay at centre parcs although don't think OH would have been too happy
Good luck xx0 -
I'd say think about what she wants and talk to your other friends about it. Personally the thought of anything involving veils, l plates, booze ups, would horrify me. I remember when my closest friend was getting married another of her friends tried to do all of this stuff - I knew it would also horrify her and managed to persuade the other friend to back off a bit. What I'm saying is try to think about what she has enjoyed or would want.
The spa/pamper thing sounds lovely to me and you can get some good offers if you phone around - we're doing it soon for a hen party for a friend of mine and we got a special deal of 3 treatments for the price of 2 because they really wanted the business0 -
For my best friends hen weekend last year I arranged a trip to Centre Parcs and it was fantastic!
Lots of girly chilling out time, swimming, cycling, rapids if you were feeling energetic, and bars and restaurants on site if you want to go out. It also worked out only about £90 each for accomodation, and then you can spend as much or as little as you like when you get there.0 -
Have a pamper party with wine for those that want a little bit and nibbles. My friend does these pamper party packages at peoples homes in my area, but im sure there will be someone around where you live that does these sort of things, coming to your own home or wherever you hold it.0

It was one of my best friend's hen do this weekend just gone. I inadvertantly ended up arranging it! We stayed in a country hotel near Bristol (Ramada one) and got a fab deal of £25 per room per night inc breakfast which was an offer I found in Cosmopolitan magazine before Christmas. The hotel had a gym/pool/jaquizzi (sp?)/sauna and a freelance therapist who we all had treatments with on the Saturday. Dinner in hotel in the night then we stayed in one of the rooms with a bottle of wine, some snacks and girly DVD's. We then went to Bath on the Sunday for a spot of shopping and had afternoon tea in the Pump Rooms.
It was a lovely weekend, quiet for a hen do! But we all enjoyed, and it was cheap too!
Keep an eye out for any offers in magazines for hotels, and here on MSE (there is a UK board too, as well as the Wedding one) .
Talk to your friend to see what she would like, and check with the other hens what amount they can afford to spend.

My MOH organised a mezze at a greek resturant for us. We had the table from 7pm until closing. Meals were brought out as and when we were ready for them as there is just too much to get through having each course directly after the next. Once the main bulk of the meals have been served the owners move on to announcements and congratulations all centred around customers that evening and you get a complimentary shot of ouzo.. Then the dancing/entertainment and music begin and goes on to the small hours or till one table left. We had an exceptionally pleasant evening no one was drunk or forced to drink anymore than they were comfortable with. For the meal it self it worked out at £20pp then add your drinks on top - bottle of wine averaging about £6 so all in all a fairly cheap night out.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j
