No, they don't. Just because they are bigger doesn't mean they can do what they like and bully other vehicles on the road.

No, it means it hurts alot more.
Would you undertake an articulated lorry indicating left, if you were driving a car, just because you were in the correct lane and he wasn't?

Who can he have beating beating up the car for a good few streets? He hits it once, you stop and stick his bike pump down his throat
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

I'm with you on that, I don't respond well to road rage.

Just because the car is bigger than the cycle doesnt make the car driver a harder person than the cyclist.;)

You'll probably find that 9 times out of 10 the cyclist is much more fitter than the car driver.;)
Nature wants the human race to survive. However, it does not depend on us because we are not its only invention.

Ok, but have you got a wheelbrace in your puncture repair kit?

I think the op and his brother were quite restained from giving the cyclist a beating personally. OK they made a mistake, but if the pratt on the bike wants to chase two cars looking for a fight, fair enough, he deserves one.

I have nothing really constructive to post in this thread but all this talk about Cyclists has got me going.

As a fairly new driver of about 5 months, what really really bugs me about some cyclists is that not one i have ever seen has ever stopped at a red light like all the cars have to. It annoys the hell out of me! If you want the right to cycle on the roads, follow the rules like everyone else!

    /rant over

It's one of my pet peeves

Apologies, I mixed up inside and outside lane - it was 4 o'clock in the morning.. To clarify: two lanes, brother turning left, having to do so from right lane as parked cars in left lane.

I agree that what my brother did shouldn't have happened, but it was a mistake. The road was fairly dark and the cyclist had a very small front light and no reflective gear on (black jacket and black trousers). As we were turning we had both slowed down, but it seems the cyclist didn't moderate his speed as one might in a car on approaching another car indicating left from what was (to all intents and purposes) a single lane road. I take account of the fact that drivers often make mistakes when I am driving - shouldn't cyclists have to?

Regarding beating up the car - the street we had turned into was part of a narrow one way system so there wasn't much of an escape. I don't think beating the guy up is the solution, but I have no doubt he'd have kicked in my brother if he'd had the chance, given his reaction. I understand that it is scary for a cyclist to narrowly avoid a collision, but it's just as scary for the driver that has caused it - why further exacerbate the shock by acting aggressively? I think an apology (wave if not able to stop) should be enough if the collision didn't actually happen, and hope that both parties learn from it.

I'm sure if I followed a cyclist closely for a few streets after they'd caused me a problem on the road it would be dimly looked upon.

Sounds more like the cyclist tried to undertake a car turning left, and nearly caused the accident himself in that case. I used to know a cyclist who refused to use lights at night, and claimed it was up to the motorist to see him, as they were bigger. Couldn't get through to him that if we couldn't actually see him, it was still going to be really painful, even if he thought we would be to blame, and that crossing sideways into my headlights meant I'd only see him just before I hit him, if he had lights I'd see him coming.
  • Maybe it was this guy- he likes having it out with drivers-:rotfl:millions there- pick one!
