Nokia N80 on o2

Hello there, my first post:wave:

Very annoyed with o2! I've been with them for over 5 years now and after reading this forum saw that I could get a good contract and phone upgrade if I pushed them a bit, so eventually I went for the n80 at £50 and and the online 500 (knocked it down to 17.50/month in the end) and bluetooth headset for £29.99.

Anyway it took at 4 seperate phonecalls and threats of leaving to get down to this discount, each time I called I asked what my earliest upgrade date was, and each time I was told 3rd of july. So yesterday rolled around and I called them first thing in the morning. After waiting on hold for 30minutes and going through all the relevant details I was told that they had got it wrong and I couldn't upgrade until today. During the upgrade details I gave and asked yesterday they told me that the n80 was 100% definitely in stock. So today comes and I go through the process again only to find the n80 is out of stock and they don't even have a date for when its in!

So what I'm basically asking of you good folks, is if anyone finds out when its in stock please please please could you post it in this thread, I don't wanna miss out again.

Cheers :D

Welcome to the site asmith6 :hello:

Ive been wanting the N80 but they wanted to charge me £149.99 so i opted for the E900 which was received last week and was faulty. I returned it yesterday and after seeing on another thread on here what deals people have been offered i thought i would ring them and see if they could offer something different.

Have just this second spoke to them (after seeing your thread made me decide to ring just to see what they would say) and they cant offer me anything until the handset is back with them but i told him how much they wanted for the N80 last time and i didnt want another E900 so could they do the N80 cheaper. He said i need to ring in 2 days time when they should have the handset back. I then asked if they currently have any N80's in stock and he answer was yes they have them. So if i was you i would ring them back and say something like 'ive just spoken to a friend who was told you have them in stock and you want to order yours.......'

Ive been messed about quite a lot with o2 over the last week or so and been told contradicting things from one person to the next. If i dont get offered what i want Thursday then they can keep it.

    hi jaxxy

I just called them back before reading your post and got a very rude bloke who told me that the offer of £17.50 I'd been offered 5minutes earlier was completely wrong, I then got quite angry with him (not rude or offensive just angry) and he said that he'd struggle to even do it for £20/month (basically it was just because I was getting !!!!!! off), having read another thread I am now going to venture to my local o2 store who have a few n80's in stock and see what they can offer me, they seemed very helpful on the phone when I just called them.

In all my dealings with o2 online, I've found them to be a very decent networks with contracts etc. but their customer service is absolutely shocking, I've had nothing but trouble with them from day one, if it wasn't for the great deals there's no way I would have stuck with them.

Sorry to hear of your dealings with them on the phone, some of them really dont seem to know what they are on about. I got told the other day that the faulty E900 sent to me for one of my contracts could be taken into the o2 store and they would replace it there. I got off the phone, phoned the store and was told 'no sorry we cant do that and never have been able to'. I got straight back onto o2 and told them what had happened and was told i shouldnt have been told that and it wasnt correct and it would have to be sent back. It really leaves you with not a lot of confidence it what you are being told.

About the store having the N80, i rang them and told them o2 was quoting £149.99 and yet online it says £99.99 for the handset what would they charge me. I was told (i phoned them up this morning to see if they keep them in stock, which they do) that they would charge me £129.99. It makes you wonder what they base their prices on as it seems to vary so much.

Good luck and let me know how you get on.

    in conclusion to the story...

i am now the proud owner of a shiny new nokia n80, i went into a store in the next town where they were in stock and after some problems with o2 online on the phone in the shop they agreed to change my contract over and let me buy the upgraded phone from the store, pleaes beware that this might not work for everyone but its worth a go.

as a double bonus, after being so angry yesterday i emailed o2's ceo and his office called me back this afternoon (after i'd got the phone) i explained all the extra trouble i had today and they gave me 3 months free line rental ;)

all in all its good to complain if you get bad customer service folks, and if possible go straight to the top! :D

So how much did you end up paying for the N80 and what term contract and tariff did you end up getting?

Also what was your tariff beforehand and did you ever go over?
    Thanks

i changed to a online 500 tariff after seeing it on here and asking the operator about it, 500 xnet, anytime mins, and 500 texts, its normally £35 a month but they discounted it to £20 per month, the n80 cost me 49.99, im pretty sure thats as low as they will go

before i was on a very old bt genie contract, it gave me 600 text and 100mins, which was perfect up until about 6mths ago when i split from my gf who was on o2 as well and then my contract started to sky rocket, generally paying £60+ for 6mths which is why i needed to change to desperately

    good luck :D

Finally have an N80 coming from o2. They are sending it out and i will get it in a couple of days.
Spoke to them today as to why my tariff hasnt been downgraded (12 month contract up (was £30 month for 200 minutes and 100 texts) and got offered 100 xnet anytime minutes and 300 texts for £10) so she said she would sort it out for the next bill and credit my account with £20.
I asked about the N80 again and confirmed if it was only when you upgraded your handset that the new 12 month contract started again which she said was correct. The N80 had been offered to me before for £149.99 and £129.99 but she told me today that it was £79.99 so that was a result.
So for a total of £200 for the year i have my handset minutes and texts, im more than happy. :j
