we had a great day out at The Wild West Theme Park www.wildwestthemepark.co.uk it seems a bit cheesy when you first go in but when you get to the other end of the park there is a live gunfight and court scenario that you take part in - its great..and not busy which is a real bonus when you have spent a week in crowded Cornwall in August!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

How many times are you planning to stop on route? If you're thinking of stopping North/Mid Cornwall.....well, you're nearly at Praa Sands by then! (Good choice by the way - beautiful there and so many lovely places to visit from using it as a base). A day trip to Kynance Cove and the Lizard peninsula is a definite must (set off early as traffic in Summer at home is atrocious.....and do spare a thought to the poor locals who have to set off for work 40 minutes earlier every day throughout the whole summer  )
How about stopping by in Devon somewhere on the way? What sort of stuff do you and your OH like? I'm actually from Cornwall and am based in Devon (Plymouth) at the moment, so have quite a few good ideas (unfortunately I will be keeping some to myself - locals need somewhere to hide in the Summer!!!).
Here's one that's a favourite of mine in devon (and only 7 miles off the A30, so not too much of a diversion from the route) :

Let me know what sort of thing you're looking for and I'll rack my brain!0 -

myself and the brood went to cornwall last summer for the eden sessions and stayed here:

it was incredible a nice cosy mobile home on a sheep farm in what felt like absolute seclusion, oddly enough the local tescos was only a 15 drive away as to was the Jamaica Inn.
If it wasnt for family commitments I would go again this year it was incredible, as far as things to do we went to newquay and the kids tried their hands/feet at surfing, eden both for the gig and to have a nosey around and lots of other places which seem like a lifetime ago.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
I love Cornwall and Devon. We have had many a holidays there when mil lived there.
2 years ago we stayed at Looe bay at a camp site up the road, what a beautiful town, close to Eden project (great day out there too). We also went to st Michaels mount another wonderful place.
Enjoy your hols.
I miss being down there, I really love that part of the country, I hate coming home
We are off to Northumberland this year near Lindsfarne in early August, I hope its good. I love a mixture of fun and history.
WE did stop at Jamica inn I didnt even though what it was accept a pub until someoen said it was mentioend in a book. I wasnt that impressed but the moors is nice but it aint much different from the moors where I live tbh.0 -
we're actually trying to avoid devon like the plague at the mo, as we are going there in september on our £9.50 sun holiday and dont want to spoil it :j
we are open to all sorts of ideas; we enjoy walking, exploring (anyone know any good castles?), looking around towns and villages. we are quite easily pleased :rotfl:
stops on the way arent essential, it just makes that day feel more like a day of the holiday too if you have actually done something
thanks again to all the responses :beer:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
the sun £9.50 deal includes a campsite in BudeCar £1500
Parents £5000
Barclaycard £900.68
+ 127,000 Mortgage
all on my lonesome0 -
I suggest St Ives and Porthcurno for beaches.
Holywell Bay pitch and putt course is good fun
Cornish Cyder Farm is good too ( 4 miles from Perranporth ) nice food and free wine and cider samples
Lands End is poo though - waste of money0 -
Lands end was fine for the views and there a small farm for kiddies but the charade with the shops and fun activities wasnt for us. They even charge to get your photo on the post with destinations.0

Hello again - More ideas :
Castle - St Michael's Mount (affectionately known here in Cornwall as the Jewel in the crown) - http://www.stmichaelsmount.co.uk/
Walking - Coastal path the entire way around Cornwall, but a particularly beautiful stretch is the Lizard Peninsula/Kynance cove
http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-thelizardandkynancecove/
I saw you mentioned day trip to newquay - as you're there in the 1st week in August....if it takes your fancy, the Rip Curl Boardmasters surf contest runs at Fistral beach from 31st July to 6th August. One of the world cup circuit events so amazing surfers from all over the world, Radio 1 Jo Whiley does a Live lounge session from the beach, skate ramps, and loads of stalls and FREEBIE-tastic! (Hint - don't go on Sat 5th or Sunday 6th as there's a bikini contest and you may lose your OH :rotfl: :rotfl: ) - http://www.ripcurlboardmasters.com/
Enjoyand if you're in Newquay you may see me :T
