Taking someone to Court needs to be thought about. There is no guarantee that they will "pay up".

But if they lose they will have a CCJ against them which no company wants.

And there are costs involved in bringing the case - its not free. And you may have to travel some distance if the case goes to court as its almost always placed in the defendants area if its a private person rather than a company.

And I dont think many companies are worried about CCJs to be honest, its probably just taken for granted they will stack some up with unhappy customers. Who checks first before buying something?

Yes but it won't be registered if they satisfy the judgment promptly so there is no down-side.

Having said all that, though , Ive taken 2 people to court and won both times. A third backed out before the case was heard.
