We used the web based site for Hillary's. TBH the faux wood venetian blinds are quite good quality and have a nice smooth pull up/down action BUT...........the cords are a MILE long.

When the blind was up the cords dangled down past the window cill, reached the floor and stretched halfway across the room!

No valid reason for this and it was ridiculous. Chopped off as much as possible but this means that when blinds are down the cord knobbly thing is right up at the top of the blinds (can just about still reach it), when they're up it hangs just past the cill which is at least a bit better.

Customer service were ignorant and unhelpful, suggested I use a 'cleat' which they had forgotten to send me, yeah right, would need to be huge and take me 10 minutes to wrap all that excess cord round it.

    Never again.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
  • Totally agree....would never ever have Hillary's blinds again. They are not cheap either and the fitting I had was second rate, very sloppy. Just sorry I didn't read all the foregoing comments before ordering.

All sorts of problems over a few months and still don't look right but I just wont have them in my house again under any circumstances.

If I want any other type of blinds will certainly be using another company, definitely not to be recommended.
  • Hillarys Blinds have also products too as well as awful customer service
  • I am so annoyed that I didn't do my research before using this very unprofessional company. I am still fuming.
I had a tradesman come into my home two fridays ago. He was supposed to come on a wednesday when my husband is home but the blinds came in earlier so I accepted the earlier installation date.
I was very happy with the blinds but on going to charge my phone that evening before bed I realised my iPhone charger was missing from my bedroom!!!! Now I have no children and my husband had been away. Also I did not have blinds fitted in that bedroom so no one had any reason to go in that room. I knew I had used the charger the previous night and earlier that day. Chargers don't just walk out of houses now do they? So it was clear that even after I had spent £1000 on blinds, the tradesman thought it was acceptable to STEAL my charger (he had an iphone as well).
I felt so disgusted and after thinking about it over the weekend I decided I had to phone the company and report the incident because 1. it was theft, which is a criminal offence and 2, this person is going into people's homes for a living and clearly has VERY sticky fingers.
Phoned Hillarys customer service on Monday morning to report the incident. I made it quite clear that I was happy with the blinds but unhappy with the fact that my charger was taken. Do you know what they did? They phoned the guy and asked him if he had accidentally taken my charger. Of course he denied and said no and then they phoned me back with this nonsense. When I made it clear that they had changed what I said, the customer rep became quite rude, threatened that if I complained and wrote anything on the website I would be 'libelling' the tradesman and that they were not the police. So I promptly came off the phone and reported the incident to the police. However, I think everyone should be aware of this incident. I have no reason to make up this story (I have already replaced the charger) and as I have said I am really pleased with the blinds. But if someone is going to come in to my home and STEAL from me and the company is not interested after they have already taken my money then my advice to all of you is to STAY CLEAR OF HILLARYS BLINDS.

Hmm I am in the market for some blinds and was going to use this company. Might look around now.
    :heart2:I have a child with autism.:heart2:
  • I must have been lucky - we've had two houses completely fitted with blinds from Hillarys (both 4 bedroom houses) and have been really pleased with them. Cheapest quote on both occasions compared to local suppliers, and the installer was really good. I think it really depends on who the person is, and unfortunately no way of predicting this - obviously a major problem with the negative reviews above!

One thing though - they do constantly ring you once you're on their list regardless of how many times you ask them to stop!
  • We have used Hillarys Blinds to furnish 3 houses - had one bad example of an adviser who kept failing to turn up but overall, we were happy with the quality and selection of their blinds
However, they are getting more expensive....
BUT - now I wouldn't spend another penny with them, unreliable and no customer service, incompetence and indifference seem to be their 2013 watchword.
    Beware
  • I ordered vertical, roman and roller blinds online using blinds2go and 24/7 blinds....really happy with both companies..sounds like an advert but it's not!
    Debt-free...and staying that way...
  • I've got 3 windows with vertical blinds, but got them from weblinds (I think) which is a branch of Hillary's, and fitted them myself. (Easy enough and I'm not the world's most practical DIYer). The product seems fine, and it does seem it's the business model that is the issue, and the relationship between agents and the main company.
  • Oh gowd. Iv just coughed up 250 quid deposit to have some blinds fitted next week. The guy that came to measure up must have been in his 60's and i took him into the room to show him the windows, walks out to fetch the step ladders and when i came back he'd jumped up onto the windowsill leaving a foot print on my newly painted wall where he must have kicked it as he climbed up. Then, when he goes to measure the next window i get ready to put the ladders in front and he says "no need" and runs and jumps up! No shoe mark this time tho.
Then, he pulls out a big metal tape measure thing and scrapes it along my windowsill leaving a scratch.
Dreading what he'll do next week when he comes to fit them, i'll just have to insist he uses the step ladders and make him aware the walls are newly decorated.
