My high gloss units are plastic wrap, not laminate, and they haven't dulled one bit.

The only way i can see them going dull is if the plastic coating hasn`t been removed !!

If it has i would try a car polish as suggested above, something like autoglym super resin polish
  • When I had my high-gloss kitchen fitted (about 5 years ago) the guy who installed it told me to use Mr. Sheen (or equivalent) spray polish and a soft cloth to clean the stuff - been doing it since day 1 and it's all looking as new and shiny as when it was installed. I just spray the doors, drawer fronts etc one at the time and then wipe with a microfibre cloth

Do you live in a hard water area?

the dull finish may be water stains, if you go over the surfaces while damp with a dry microfibre cloth they should polish up well.

I have a nightmare to keep my black granite tops looking good because of hard water, any suggestions welcome!
  • Stardrops first, hot water and soft sponge, dry with lint free cloth and then polish over the top when dry.

Failing that, Mir wax can be used for both stages.

I always polish with window cleaner and a blue cloth. Every so often I will do a complete wash down with Stardrops but only a small amount in the water. Give a really good buff to dry off with a towel and then finish off with window cleaner (its only a cheap one) Had my high gloss laminate kitchens since 2002 and comes up looking like new every time.

I've just looked on google and they say to use bicarbonate of soda - I've got the same problem as Claire21 - just fitted a new kitchen with high gloss laminate worktop and they look dull and dreary already!

Will give it a go and let you know.

Are they brand new? I thought one of my doors was dull a week after my black gloss kitchen was fitted and it turns out the protective wrapping hadn't been removed...
