If you have only just asked then I would consider 8 days notice to be too little notice.

I wish my work was as fair as yours. Mine are too scared to tell the breeders that they can't have first pick at holidays.

Try working for my company; if you don't have brats, you're a persona non grata.

I didn't have a child just so I could have first dibs, andyway its first come first serve here. and as no one else has them days booked I thought they would be fine with it.
  • If you don't like it leave. No one is forcing you to work there. Personally if a little accomodation can be made for a new father then I'd give the time off, a happy employee is better than a miserable one.

However they are within there rights to tell you no.

    I'm not suggesting you did.

What sort of new-age nonsense is that?
  • I should think the problem is you're not giving them enough notice, particularly for the days off on the 29th Jan and 1st Feb

29 and 1 are fri and mon over a weekend and the 8th is a monday.

Its really pi55ed me off. I'm finding it hard enough being away from the both, let alone saying I cant spend time with my family with her.

Well unless you quit work, you'll need to get used to it, sorry. Save your days holiday for when they'll be really needed/wanted such as clinic appointments or days when you might be needed because your OH is ill/tired. Get your family to visit - much easier than traipsing up and down here and there with a baby.
