but some time back I read on here thet pre 2005 you were less likely to get anywhere, but if it stated on your agreement reference to 1974 consumer credit act it shows the company was still bound by certain rules and worth persueing?
You are mixing up rules. Insurance became regulated in January 2005. However, some firms had an earlier body that they were a member of and those firms have to consider pre 2005 complaints (typically banks, credit card providers etc). Those that were not members of an earlier body dont have to consider pre 2005 complaints.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). My complaint is to E.P.F a loan financier that was part of HSBC/HFC back then. they advised me strongly to have PPI as a means to obtaining my loan, without which it was unlikely I would get it? They used an insurer "Pinacle" to insure the PPI but I only dealt with the financier.0

I have read on here that people that have chased the same company as I with a similar time element have to some degree been successful but I don't know how to proceed or if I am chasing my tail now.
Regards again.0 -

Dates are key. Post Jan 2005, they have to consider the complaint. Pre Jan 2005, if they were not members of an earlier body, then they do not have to consider the complaint. If they were, then they have to consider the complaint.
FOS say it is pre-regulation in your case and they cant review it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
