50pc of little aint much-we are all world connected by energy prices-dont knock a place unless youve lived there-the national governement has little control over izmir where my place is-they set gas prices around the local climate and it is good so the take up of gas is low -it is a recent thing in the city--houses and living is cheap--life standard good-recession freemfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

i started this thread and it has gone astray--i can follow my gas bill easily back in the uk but-i wonder how long a imperial gas unit of 1 pound lasts--the metric units i follow abroad give me 1 hour of constant heat for a 4 bedroomed appartment--cost is 21p a unit--so 5 hours heat at 20c is approximately 1 pound--anybody interested in continuing?mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

You start off by complaining about the complication of the tariffs and meters and are now throwing in the arbitrary 'unit' of how long your house gets heated for a pound?
Craziness.0 -
a question how much heat do you get for a unit?--plus what i gather a unit in the uk costs 33p -a hype over the 21p abroad---and people say there is no rip off--having a detailed look into costing of energy is not craziness it is just being cost concious--i focus on things and make sure i am getting the best deal-then i live a happy solvent life!-energy poverty is a life threatening fact of life in the uk and costs many livesmfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

I really don't understand the point you are making except to state Turkey has cheaper gas than UK?
If governments get involved in pricing of gas and electricity(as in Turkey) to provide subsidised or taxed energy, it doesn't indicate that more expensive countries are a rip off.
In Europe(the common market) UK has well below the average prices but they can vary a huge amount from country to country.
For Electricity(3,500kWh pa) the prices vary from 0.074 Euro/kWh to 0.267 Euro/kWh - UK is 0.137 Euro/kWh .
For Gas(15,000kWh pa) the prices vary from 0.0287 Euro/kWh to 0.120 Euro/kWh - UK is 0.042 Euro/kWh .
If the Common Market are stupid enough to let Turkey with its 80 million population enter, then who knows what will happen to Turkish prices. Although if the 50% forcast rises for Turkish gas prices happens later this year, your prices will be on a par with UK.0 -

This is the first time I have come across a poster that talks like an Eliza program. The ticker tape format is very interesting as well, it feels like some kind of serial input device was used. Background world knowledge seems limited, grasp of real world properties seem tenuous.
It's unlike a troll in behaviour. It must be a computer program, or some sort of sensory deprived patient like Dr. Steven Hawkins.0 -
i have to keep it simple or people call me crazy.plus i am using a foreign keyboard and things aren' in the right place for touch typing. İf you dont have anything positive to add just pass by and smile.mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

With a climate that only requires heating for approximately 2 months a year. 50pc of little will be little. İ dont know who can forcast a 50pc price hike set to happen in summer?? Turkey gets it gas from İran and Turkmenistan of whom they have a good relationship so the suppliers wont single them out for an increase. The governemnt controls the gas price in the country and they want to stay in power so its doubtful to come from there.Who makes these claims??
On the subject of Eu membership-if you ask most Turks they A) dont want membership and
dont believe it will happen--the eu are pumping money into all kinds of projects here but if there is a referendum i think the people will slam the door- as a Brit i cant see us being exactly enthusiastic about our memebership!!-but if the Eu are giving money it would be rude not to accept it--Turks are very polite that way!!
My background is that İ am married to a Turkish woman and have been accepted on all levels within their society. i dont speak Turkish but they let me thrive in their society -they could teach us Brits a lot about the way to live life and get on with our neighbours-sorry but i know both worlds-mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -

Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz has been briefing!Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz has said the government would make no price hike in natural gas in January 2010.
"The price hike in natural gas in January will be zero percent for households and industrial sector. But that is until February. The automatic pricing mechanism will then decide the hike," Taner Yildiz told a press meeting on Thursday on the occasion of passage through the Istanbul Strait of a drilling platform, which will explore oil and natural gas for the Turkish Petroleum Corporation and Brazil's Petrobras in the Black Sea.
Turkey is heavily dependent on foreign suppliers of oil and natural gas and it has to import around 65 percent of primary energy to meet needs.
"No government wants to make price hikes but the situation is completely dependent on foreign resources," Yildiz said.0 -
Did i miss mention of a 50pc hike?? it depends on world prices is what i am gathering--and the Turkish minister is supporting his growing industrial base-sounds like the government has control of the energy needs not Gascom in Russia!! they are building a pipeline across Turkey to by pass Russian dominance of supply in Europe-so be nice to the man in the kebab shop!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0
