They cost a lot less to keep than a dog. My old cat used to cost me £1 a week for food and litter.0

I got Charlie about 4 months ago and wouldn't be without him - he's the first cat I've had but hubby has had a cat before.
When he hears the door go, he will wait at the top of the stairs (we have to go up one level to get to our ground floor) for us and start beeping and miaowing
He sleeps at the end of our bed at night time and thinks nothing of standing on me at 5am, putting his face right up against mine and rubbing it against me. Still not sure if this is him wanting a feed or if he just wants a bit of attention - he's a total fuss pot!
He's settled in really well and is really cheeky and we both chat away to him, it's lovely

I have ALWAYS been a dog person and then in March last year we got two rescue cats.
I am completely addicted. They both greet me at the door but also wait (at the right time) at the front window for when we come home everyday.
One of them is very much a Mummy's boy (me:o) and he can't get enough of my attention and play whereas they other ADORES my DS. He waits in his room when it is bedroom. Sleeps next to his bed until we go to bed and it is so cute!!!
When DS go's to his Dads they are great company for me (something I didn't think I would enjoy so much:o)

I've got 2 cats (brothers) and a staff. When we take the dog for a walk the cats come too, the shock on peoples faces when they see the cats chasing after the dog who is chasing his ball is great.
The cats are very different one will cuddle on my lap all day, get under to duvet with me. The other one will only sit with my 7 year old, if you pick him up he puts his paws on your chest and pushes hiself as far away as possible, but my daughter can do anything even had him whizzing up and down the hall in her dolly purshchair the other day.
The best thing though is when my cuddly one wants to come in he climbs up the front door till he can look through the window, then stays there clinging on for dear life.0 -
I could be over-thinking this but I think a relationship with a dog is akin to one with a cheerful but willful child but a relationship with a cat feels like an adult one, albeit one where the power is ruled with a furry fist.0

I couldn't be without my two, they have such fab personalities:
Missy is a real lady, she only allows me or my bf to stroke her (the ones that feed her) anyone else that tries is met by a sharp turn around and the sight of her bum in their face!
Coco on the otherhand is a complete attention seeker, every person that comes into the house gets him on their lap immediately - whether they want him there or not - he actually seems to prefer people who constantly put him on the floor, as though he knows he is annoying them! He has made my friend (who despises cats with a passion) a cat lover (or at least a coco lover) - he didn't really have much choice though!
“Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never forgotten this.” - this is certainly true of my two but they have made my house a home, they bound towards me when I come in from work, keep me warm at night and I know it sounds daft but they give me a sense of peace when you look at them sleeping no matter what is going on with my life.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE]:eek: £2550.00 :cool:0 -
The smell!
I have ALWAYS adored cats, but been rather wary of dogs after a bad experience when young. Over the years I have come to learn to admire dogs and appreciate their many plus points....but I just can't get on with the smell of a dog, even a clean one let alone one which has been rolling in lord knows what.
Whereas.....the sweetness of a cat's smell...AHHH, I can bury my nose in that furry belly and fill my lungs with the sweet perfume, or the slight cheesiness of a little furry paw.
The smell of a cat fresh in from out doors bringing the scent of herbs from the garden, or even a cat roused from sleeping on a pile of my cleanest washing and ironing....This is priceless!0 -
All of the above. Last night I culdn't sleep. My dog was asleep as soon asher head hit the pillow (well, the end of the bed!) but my cats snuggled up with me and purred through the dark sleepless hours with me, happy to love and be loved, and curled up to sleep as I drifted off.0

The experience of watching a horror film late at night is made much more authentic when the wind blows the letter box open and all cats look towards the door with wide eyes convincing me that the horror from the TV is now in fact in my home.
