The Tesco Baked Bean Theft

Some might think I'm being petty but Tesco aren't giving me the correct amount of beans in my tin. I'm on a diet, so have taken to weighing everything out, and a 420g tin of beans only contains 408g. The tin itself weighs 70g and I measured 2 lots of 204g so where is the other 12g, who has stolen it? I've weighed six tins (the kids love them honest!) and they all weigh exactly 478g.
Are they allowed to state the contents are one weight but consistently filled it with a lighter one? Think of all the 12grams they have 'saved'.

I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

420g is the gross weight, including sauce, and maybe even the tin. It is possible that the other 12g made it home, but not into the scales.0 -
Have you had your scales calibrated? We all evolve - get on with it0

Ask for a refund, it must be atleast .00004 of a penny on an 8 pence can of beansEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

It's the weight of contents not including tin, but I know it includes the sauce.Have you had your scales calibrated?

Sneakily opening the tins and purloining your beans. It could work out to be more profitable than drugs and prostitution.

Presumably you've got an up to date official Calibration Certification to prove that your scales are accurate prior to accusing Tesco of theft?
12 grams out of 420 is just under 3%. I'm not sure what the law states about error margins with packaged food, but I suspect that there's averages involved. The packaging plants will probably have to have regular calibration on their equipment as part of their procedures anyway.
have you weighed out how many beans make 12grams?0 -
