Someone has posted a grabbit thread about Tesco pet insurance offering 33% off, so I did a quote and it came out at £4.28 a month. I would be quite happy with that, it covers me for up to £2500 for each new medical condition a year, however you only get to claim for 12 months, so say she develeoped a life long ilness, I wouldnt be covered. Now she is mostly a house cat so i live in hope that nothing to bad will happen to her, do you think this would be ok for basic cover?
I am just considering the basic cover. Although the extra cover was only £6 somthing and does have the limits the one above does.
Any views would be welcome.

Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

Its really a personal choice all my animals are covered for lifelong illnesses so the pot per illness renews every year. You need to think worse case scenario if your cat got a lifelong illness would you be able to afford continuing treatment? If yes it may be a risk worth taking. Only you financially know what you can afford.
What I have learnt the hard way with insurance is that cheapest isn't always best. So even if you end up going with Tesco its well worth looking at other options and looking at there T&Cs
I'm with M&S for my 6 cats and a Dog its not the cheapest and I know some people renewals have been high. Its the only one though that gives me the cover i'm happy with with my Financial situation0 -
I believe Tesco don't offer a whole of life policy so it may be better to look around if you want insurance. Tesco hate to pay out too.Sealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0

i would steer well clear of these type of policies. the 12 month limit ones are rubbish in my opinion - i don't know how many times i have seen people complaining about these types of policies, not even aware of the limitations of them - they were usually sucked in by the cheap, premiums on price comparison sites.
also the cheap premium you have been quoted includes a 33% discount - rememebr therefore that your premium will jump on renewal. you may even find that you can get a decent 'for life' policy for just a few quid more per month. try axa and pet plan and NFU.0 -
Its a very poor pay out isnt it.0

Accidents that happen outside the home are usually expensive one-offs, it's conditions such as diabetes and renal failure and cancer that cost over the long term. Indoor cats are just as vulnerable, perhaps more so as they don't get as much exercise as the average outdoor cat. We know in humans that walking just 10,000 steps per day at any pace massively reduces your risk of many health conditions.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

coming through loud and clear, I will give it a miss then, back to axa m&S and pet plan for some quotes then.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0

Try direct line as well, they are really good and pay out easily.Sealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0

m and s are bunging up their premiums kitty, so may be give them a miss even though its a good for life policy there. Im stuck with them for one dog as we have made a claim and cant move insurers. Have you checked out pinnacle? They are new to pet insurance but very well known and reputable insurers.
sandy, I think direct line is another one that is not genuine for life. That is, there is an amount you can claim up to and then you are on your own. This may not be a problem for most people but if you have a pet which develops a chronic, life time condition, you could be in dire straits once the pot has run out. True life time policies fill the pot up again every year.0 -

Direct line do I'm sure, my friend is with them and she has a westie with a really rare metabolic problem that would have cost a fortune and she has never had an issue.
A lot of insurance companies have different levels of cover so it is worth checking what they offer.Sealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0 -
Sorry having a scrambled brain moment I meant more than not direct line.
There was an advert on TV at the time for direct line:D
