Buying Your Own Sky HD Box

Really am keen to upgrade to Sky HD for the fact the box is black, can connect via HDMI and also make use of my HD TV.
If I was to buy a box off say a certain auction site can I confirm that: -
1) The cable I have for my Sky + are the same as the ones you would have for HD cables. If they are why do Sky charge £60 installation when all they do is swap the box over?!?!
2) I understand you would have to phone sky to get your card paired/matched with the box. Do you have any problems doing this with Sky?
3) To watch just BBC HD, ITV HD and CH4 HD I wouldn't have to pay the Sky HD charge of £10 a month is that right?
Thanks

1) Because they can.
2) Shouldn't be a problem, movies and sports won't work until you do this. I'm pretty sure that SkyHD boxes need to be connected to the phone line to complete the pairing process, Sky should tell you what to do on the phone.
3) Correct (but ITV HD is a bit of a hack to get working and you can't use the '+' functionality with it).0 -
Non SkyPlus installations used a single LNB from the dish. SkyPlus requires TWO usually combined, and a twin cable run, so it isn't a box-swap, it is a fresh cable run (and usually a replacement dish anyway).0

The OP already has Sky+ so no new cables required.
But I agree, when I got mine I got a nice new dish as wellWe all evolve - get on with it0 -

You don't need to ring sky to pair the box up you can do it through "Services" 401 select" then "new installation" and let the box do a call back, However you will need to upgrade you package to include the HD mix at an extra £10/month0

That assumes that the Sky Receiver is connected to a telephone line.0
