Not when it was pitch black as per the first set of pictures and on a bend too!
Thanks, letter is written, just need to take a picture of it filled in as shows it was prioritised and needed doing.
Will update on here how I get on.0 -
How did it go. Its just happened to me tonight at about 21.50pm. Burst my passenger side front tyre.
I never had a camera with me, do you think I should go back now and take pictures or do you think it will be okay to leave it until tomorrow?
The pot hole came out of nowhere, I wasnt expecting them. On the road it happened on there is usuall potholes at the top of the road, not at the bottom where I got caught whilst going between 15-20 mph. First my drivers side hit a pot hole hard and I thought "what the hell?" then straight after my passenger side hit another pot hole. As I drive on I could hear a hissing sound everytime my wheel spun, before I got home I was driving with a flat tyre.
The road it happened on in Haringey always has potholes theres road works going on around that road, or should I say where the pot hole usually are.
any advice appreciated0 -
Jay213, yes certainly get pictures of the pot hole, if you think it has damaged the wheel as well or knocked the tracking off this will need to be adjusted.
How old was the tyre on the car, if it is fairly worn? It might not be worth making a claim as they will take this in to consideration.
Also make a call to your council as well and report it.
Keep a log of everything you do and start writing a letter.
This is a very useful website

Update on my case, they rejected my claim on the grounds of that it hadn't been reported by anyone else (even though on a recorded call with them they said it had)
Also they filled it in within a reasonable amount of time (yes they did but after numerous of complaints to the council)
The road is inspected every 31 days (maybe so but that doesn't stop pothole occurring when we have bad weather , the road has been repaired and it's a main road with 8 ton busses rolling up and down every 20 minutes)
They then on another telephone call (recorded) had the cheek to say they were already aware of it.-WHY oh WHY did they not mark it up then or fill it in given the severity of the depth!
I am waiting again to hear back but I won't let it rest due to the tyre being pretty much brand new. I will be taking them through the small claims court if I don't get reimbursed.0 -

Was the call recorded by you or them? If it was by you then you would have needed their permission to record the call. If not then you won't be able to use it as evidence.0 -

No, on my end, although I did put in writing to them the calls are recorded so maybe wouldn't be able to use the first call as evidence.0

I used to work in insurance claims and from my experience it is extremely difficult to get a payout from the council via your insurance for this type of thing- they will counteract your claim with questions of how busy the road is everyday and how many other people have claimed for the same type of damage....if for example there are 100 cars on that road in an average day and you are the only one claiming they will counteract stating you should have avoided the pothole.
Its not impossible to do but you will need to have all the facts first to have a a chance of a good claim. I agree the state of the roads are shocking and someone really needs to take it in hand.
Best of luck**"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin."**0
