Best SKY HD upgrade

We are currently looking to upgrade our second box from sky+ to sky hd+

My partner called sky yesterday and was quoted as £149 for the box plus £60 installation

Are there no better deals out there? As this is a extortionate amount of money to charge!!!

Any help or guidence would be welcomed

Many thanks
Ben

You get 1 subsadised STB from BIB & that's it,You may get the install for 1/2 price but that's it.

If your second box is Sky plus then there is no need for any extra wires for a HD box. Just buy one off Ebay and connect it yourself. HD boxes are around £60-£70
Ypu just have to call Sky when your done to pair the card up to the box (Its £10 pm extra if you want HD on the second box but there a few fta HD channels)

Dead right. Such is the monolpolistic power of $ky, that subscribers believe, or are led to believe, that equpment can only be sourced from $ky and that there is some mysticism around connections or installation. When proprietary digiboxes were designed it was very much with this in mind

Do get a secondhand box from Ebay. Should it go wrong a proper repair would cost less than the £65 demanded by $ky.

If you take the £10 per month HD then you can get £49 box and £30 install you will also get £50 MS vouchers. link below.

I done this on 3rd January and was installed on 9th January. They also moved my sky+ box to my bedroom and my standard box from the bedroom to the kids room I have also downgraded my package from skyworld to Entertainment package, Upgraded my broadband from base to unlimited £10 per month and I now watch the sport online.

My overall package is cheaper and I have unlimited broadband and HDtv.

I currently pay £23 entertainment pack £10hd and £5 multiroom (reduced from £10 as I have no premium channels) and £10 for my broadband. I am also getting a further £10 discount for 6 months as I have taken Broadband unlimited so in summary I am £43 per month for 6months then £53 per month.

Think this is the best deal available.

I have never payed full price for a sky box. In my old house I had sky+ and standard box and in my current house I have had a free sky+ free standard box and HD for £79 (49+30) in the last 18 months.
