You already have a BT landline, they wouldn't charge you to reactivate it on their service. BT only charge if they need Openreach to do something to reactivate your line or install a new line; your line is already active so they won't charge. Personally I wouldn't go with BT though, they don't even attempt to compete with their offerings.

You could opt for virtually any other broadband and phone provider or combination thereof, I couldn't imagine any of them would charge for installation these days. For example, I'm with Post Office for phone and Be for broadband.

If I were you, I'd see what O2 have to offer in March. Looks like a good deal, their broadband is already top notch (it's Be's network).

Your line is either BT or Virgin media. There is little (if nothing) else available in the UK.

If you aren't with Virgin then (it's a given that) BT is providing the line for your TalkTalk, Post Office, Tiscali or whatever else service.

If they have changed your contract and are willing to stay with talktalk I would ring them and see what offers they will give you to stay with them.Somewhere on this forum (cant find where now) it says tiscali customer can leave free of charge from talktalk so thats one opiton,otherwise ring them,as when I rung and said im looking at leaving with out trying i got a few months free to sign a new contract. (18 months but couldnt be bothered with hassle to leave anyway) I was an ex tiscali customer.

Right Tiscali in places use a product call Local Loop Unbundled

This (except for the wires from the exchange to your house or last mile) is run on non BT/Virgin hardware in the exchange.

The reason you've been getting phone and BB for £20 is because they're not paying rental to BT to use their network.

To move from this product at present you have to return to BT :mad:

As you have a working line this is called a return to donor and costs £35 they will wave that for an 18 month contract tie in :mad:

As Zombie said they're offering some good retention deals atm as the change means you can leave with no penalties.
