So how can you broadly state the charges will be £1000 if not more if you did not experience this???

Did you just pick a number from thin air?

Additional mileage...as stated in the first response as below [I made the point about wear and tear - as you have to repair to their standards, not yours.....which I did to mine before it went back to the lease agent 3 weeks ago].

I made the points as the OP has not factored any of this into the calcs; however as it can plainly be seen - the OP will not be having any bumps, or additional wear and tear and will not be going over the allocated mileage. My Bad.

Don't forget; you have to hand the car back with minimal damage [fair wear and tear] and tyres to their standards [not yours], and the pence per mile additional mileage really adds up. So be prepared to add another £1000 on top to return it, if not more...depending on mileage.

Sounds to me like when asked at the beginning of the contract what milage they expect to do the OP answered with their anticipated annual milage surely discounting the need to worry excessively about the excess milage charge.

Aye, he made that clear after I mentioned it....prior to that he said:

Now my understanding is I only pay the items in Bold and then hand the car back. Is this not correct?

Which is why I mentioned the fair wear and tear/additional mileage issues.....and I just said not to forget....be prepared.
