I have Virgin & Sky

Any help here please before I start making phone calls...

At present I have Sky+ (just gone up to £39 for all 6 + movies, but will be cancelling movies tonight), and I have Virgin Media for Broadband and Phone (and base TV upstairs) for £25

My query is, I could get Sky Broadband for 'next to nowt' IF I had a BT landline, which I do not have. It seems Sky are 'favouring' BT customers who get a better deal than me because I have a virgin landline.

how would sky take it if I called them telling them that I would happily ditch Virgin if they could provide me with a BT line (for free) and take up their Sky Talk and bradband. That way, one bill instead of two.

I hope that makes sense.....

On a similar note, I have an Orange phone contract and could probably get free broadband from them as well, but I can't because I have a virgin landline. It appears that if you have a Virgin phoneline you are a leper to society......:D

  • Well, just called Sky to remove the movies and they did so without even asking me to keep it....

Asked them about why BT customers can get better deals than I can being on Virgin and they basically just said that that is how it works. Asked them if they could put at BT line in and then I will get more services but no joy as they do not install lines yet but are hoping to in the future.

May call Virgin Media and see what they can offer. I am only trying to save myself some money, nothing else...

ADSL broadband does not work down a Virgin phone line because Virgin control everything. Nothing to do with anyone else it is Virgin who prevent any other broadband.

Today's MSE Newsletter has an article about free BT line installation. The problem you would have would be that you could not use SkyTalk (so Sky's broadband would cost £5 more) as with this offer you have to make 10 calls through BT a month. SkyTalk prevents any calls going through BT even if you use an override code.
