ask them for new quote and then say you want to transfer to this holiday at a amend fee of normally about £25pp its better than losing dep. pm if you need anymore advice
Excellent advice, never thought of that one, i would think you are able to do this, would be very interested to know if you do and how you go on.0 -
Same thing happened to me. My holiday was £800 cheaper 6months after i booked!! Moaned to them, but there is nothing you can do! So i cancelled and lost my £240 deposit, then re-booked saving myself £££s. That was with Virgin holidays. They just basically said, these thing happen and appoligised. Thats how these companies make there money!!wins 2008: nada

No, they would not, as they would be in breach of contract.
Do you actually think before you speak?
Are you ever right about anything?
Or don't you ever get out?
Typical example.
Your Holiday Price
The prices on this website are correct at time of website publication, however, Virgin Holidays reserves the right to raise or lower its prices at any time. We also reserve the right to correct errors in both advertised and confirmed prices (both before and after your confirmation has been issued). Please note, changes and errors sometimes occur. Before you make a booking we will give you the up to date price including the cost of any peak-season supplements, upgrades or additional facilities which you have requested. Any increase in price may appear as a flight supplement.
In respect of Packages, changes in fees (including transportation costs, fuel costs, dues, taxes, fees such as landing taxes or embarkation/ disembarkation fees at ports/airports and exchange rates) and services mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked your holiday. However, there will be no change to the cost of your holiday within 30 days of departure. In relation to package holidays, we will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to up to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that, plus an administration charge of £1.00 per person together with an amount to cover the agent’s commission. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements (excluding insurance premiums and amendments charges), you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality, you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of monies paid, except for any amendment charges and cancellation charges already incurred. We will consider an appropriate refund of insurance premiums paid if you can show that you are unable to transfer or reuse your policy. Should you decide to cancel for this reason, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date printed on your final invoice. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place. The price of your travel arrangements was calculated using the rate of exchange rates on 11th September 2009 and known costs on that date

My sister has been in a similar posistion this week. They booked a holiday costing just under £4000 on line and have so far paid £600 deposit plus £1300. They are now in the posistion where they can no longer afford this so have looked at going elsewhere. They found a holiday online (which is how they booked the other) for £1900 plus £280 admin charges for changes. When they phoned to do this they were told that they couldn't have the online discounts only brochure prices. They were told that they could cancel and loose the £600 and rebook.
They have now found a cheaper holiday for the price they have already paid so in the end they didn't lose any money.
She asked in three different travel agents (including the company she has booked with) and none of them could understand why they were not being given the discounts.0 -

Unfortunately this is how companies make their money, but its the same for everything. Ie how many people bought toys etc for christmas and now their half price in the sales, its just tough luck thats how the cookie crumbles, what about videos, dvds etc, in sainsburys they might be £10 in tescos they might £15, thats how these things work. You just have to decide when the price is right for you and buy if it goes up be glad and if it goes down just think you were happy with the price at the time. It is annoying but it happens to us all one way or another.0 -

Well we rang them and they couldn't do anything. I asked about my deposit and she claimed it was £700 (I certainly don't remember it being as much as that) so I can't cancel and re-book as it would end up costing more.
We even asked about extending the holiday to 10 days (as that would be the same price as we paid) but we were told that to do that they would base the cost on the price we paid not todays prices!!
So, unless anyone has any other advise for us, we have to grin and bear it.

Not 100% sure but think they're lying about paying the price it was because how do they know what the price was for 10 nights.Try ringing again you'll get someone else and just ask if i change my hol to 10 days for same thing how much will it be and they'll price it up on that days price and as you're extending the holiday there isn't normally an admin fee. How many people are on your booking as unless there 7 of you at £100 each i dont think thats right either, and when you ring be nice as if you are arsey straight away you get the persons back up who you are talking too then they'll be less helpful.0

I tried last year with Direct Holidays to change from one family room to 2 rooms because when I checked online after booking the price was excellent for 2 rooms, however they did indeed quote the price at the original point of booking!!!!!No Matter what you do there will be critics.0
