Gas Central Heating

My Dad (72) lives alone in our family house, it's a 3 bedroomed semi detached place with storage heaters on economy 7. There's no gas to the house but it is up to the end of his driveway so it can be installed readily. Over the past few weeks his house has been so cold, albeit with the extreme conditions, but we started chatting about getting GSH fitted in his house.
Would he be eligible for any grants to do this?

I dont think he would be able to get a grant for the gas connection, but may get the 'ripoff' warmfront grant for full installation of gas central heating depending on his situation, however, if you were to consider having a wet central heating system installed, you should consider alternatives to fossil fuels, have a look at air source heat pumps, Mitsubishi, Daikin, Sanyo, these run on electric and will heat water for the rads, and the hot water, very efficient, low running costs. proper heat loss calcs will be done to size the radiators correctly. good luck. There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!
