Virgin in Ex's name, can I cancel and re-order without installation?

At the end of this month my year contract with Virgin comes to an end, but its in my ex's name. They want to charge me to get it changed to be in my name.
Everything is with virgin - phone line, tv, and broadband. Im quite happy with staying with them, but would like to take advantage of quidco and there current offers. Do you think they would let me re-join them in my name ending my ex's contract but not having to pay for installation or the V+ box as I have it all already?

No,
The services are in his name & will be turned off when he cancels & the equipment will have to be returned to VM or he'll be billed £250 approx.
You will then have to resubscribe & a one man installer will be sent out to install the new eqipment.

The equipment already installed isn't yours. It isn't your exes either. It belongs to vm and once your exes account is cancelled they should come to take it away
so short answer is no you can't. You may be able to get a self install though where virgin will send you the boxes, cards and some cable and you hook it up to the cable point yourself. I can't remember if you get any discount for this kind of install though
just had an after thought after writing this post. I think virgin require an engineer visit for any kind of install featuring V+ so the self install won't be an option anyway0 -
Even though you have to pay £99 for the box? Have to see if its worthwhile cancelling it then, or maybe going to sky.

Thank you for your help.
With sky you do own the equipment. Virgin media you rent the equipment
each have their downsides, the downside to the rental one you are seeing now. Downside with sky is if equipment fails out of warranty it's your responsibility to replace though normally threatening to leave gets the right result from sky
we switched from vm to sky a year ago and wouldn't look back0
