Not sure if someone has already posted this. But I'm posting it hoping that it will benefit someone.
My AOL silver contract was about to end. As I was paying £17.99/month on it I decided to move to TalkTalk and called up AOL to cancel my connection when the contract ends.
When I told the cust service rep the reason for my decision to move away from AOL, she offered to match the TalkTalk Pricing, if I take AOL Talk on my phone line.
My monthly charge has now reduced from £17.99 to £9.99 for AOL Silver, and I have taken the Pay as you go option on AOL Talk which does not have any monthly charge. I only have to pay for the calls that I make.
Effectively I am paying £11 for BT Line rental + £9.99 for my AOL Silver which is the same as the talktalk pricing. The drawback is that it does not include the free calls. However a benefit is that you do not have to pay the upfront fees that you need to pay for TalkTalk contract and also there is no 18 months lock in.
