some friends of our had your song by elton john

also maroon five she will be loved is nice

love the paul weller one, i might use that one for our wedding

this years love..yer maybe not very good but you could slip it in with some of the others, it is romantic "this years love is made to last heaven knows its high time, i been waiting on my own too long" might be relevant to someone!

all the guest will be crying if they get 2 hours of romantic songs!

My brother got married last year and they had love songs playing in the background while we ate our meal.
They played Luther Vandross songs and the Carpenters.
    A few other suggestions are
Making Memories of Us - Keith Urban
Groovy kind of Love - Phil Collins
There You'll be - Faith Hill
    Have a lovely wedding!
    :)

    Congratulations.

Simple As a Sunrise by Na Leo.

We played this when signing the registar.

I wake to feel your love surround me
the beauty that's there in your smile
It lights the whole world around me
And I know you are here all the while

I see the magic that's within you
The way you appear like a star
and shine like nothing else around you
I want to be right where you are

    Simple as a sunrise
    your love is my light
chasing all of the darkness away
And I know in you eyes, for all of my life
there will always be something that guides my way

I dream at night I'm with an angel
and rise to behold it is you
So let the stars stay up in heaven
the wish I want most has come true.

    Simple as a sunrise
    your love is my light
chasing all of the darkness away
And I know in you eyes, for all of my life
there will always be something that guides my way

This thread has really got me thinking.....

I say a little prayer and A natural woman by Aretha Franklin are both amazing. Come away with me by Norah Jones....I will by the Beatles (its my personal favourite Beatles song!).

This won't be everyones cup of tea, but Nothing Else Matters by Metallica is awesome (and for anyone not familiar with it, I guarantee that it probably doesn't sound how you imagine it to!!) but for a more elderly relative friendly version of the same song, Lucie Silvas does a version of this on her album which probably sounds a lot more wedding-y.

I have one other suggestion for when you're making your choices, and thats to look up the lyrics on one of the on line databases to check them out first (sing365.com is a pretty extensive one). I remember reading in Q magazine once that one of the most requested songs at UK weddings is Every Breath You Take by the Police, but if you read the lyrics its not romantic at all, its really quite scary !! And there were a load of other examples which I can't remember at the moment. Anyway, it left me a bit paranoid about mis-interpreting the lyrics of what on the surface might seem to be a love song but is actually anything but......

I'm so excited thinking about this that I wish I was getting married again myself - I didn't have a party or a first dance and now I'm thinking that it was a missed opportunity!!

    good luck with it all

    Atlantic Starr - Always.

Girl you are to me, all that a woman should be,
And I dedicate my life to you always
The love like yours is grand,
It must have been sent from up above
And I know you'll stay this way, for always
And we both know, that our love will grow
And forever it will be you and me ..............

I didnt copy the whole thing cause of copyright issues but i found the words by googling it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
...and the only song I can think of with Wendy in, is Springsteen's "Born to Run" and somehow I think that won't quite do!

The theme to Bob the Builder mentions Wendy and is quite a catchy little number!

As for a serious suggestion (an a story) :

Our wedding tune was Martine McCutcheon - Perfect Moment

The story : The song was not released as a single when we were married but was getting a lot of radio play and was a song we liked.

The wedding night DJ couldn't play a "taped off the radio" version so we phoned our local radio station and they offered to copy a CD for us.

I spent the afternoon before our wedding outside the radio studio waiting for them to make us a copy (after going to HMV to buy a blank CD).

It's a nice tune but quite difficult to dance to.
    That's Numberwang!

    Hey Everybody,

You're all doing wonderfully! Thanks!! As you will see from the start of the thread, I was just going to get two or three bits of music.... Now?

What I'm going to do, now you've all been so helpful (but don't stop yet - if you can think of any more, please tell me) is download the songs and put them on CDs and play them as we take our seats, and then carry on with them through the meal (just playing quietly so it doesn't drown the conversation, but stops there being awful quiet bits, and also covering uo the sound of people clattering their cutlery!) No dancing afterwards as it is a late ceremony, just conversation afterwards.

Initially I thought I'd get a couple of songs in reply, but this is great! And won't it be a lovely reminder of our day? I've also asked my best friends and closest family to choose "their song" and we'll put them in, so they too can have a special moment during the day.

    Thank you all!
