Thinking of changing from Sky to Virgin?

Having sat here trying to reduce my monthly bills - I had decided I would ring Sky and tell them how I want to cancel after at least 15 years just to see if I could get some sort of deal out of them.
I've just looked on Virgins website and for the like for like packages - I could save £14 a month with Virgin:eek:
Now there is a strong possibility I am missing something here so thought I'd check with you knowledgeable lot first before I call and make an idiot of myself (very usual:rolleyes:)
Currently I have Sky Talk (free eves & w/e calls), Sky Broadband (unlimited) and Sky TV (all channels + ESPPN) - for that little lot, I am currently paying £78.50.
With the same package with Virgin - I would pay £64.45 per month - getting the first two months discounted.
Now I know I would have to pay £75 for a Virgin box (free installation) but I'm thinking that that would pay for itself over the course of the year (the first 2 months discount would pay the most of it!).
Have I missed something and would anybody suggest NOT going with Virgin?
Finally - does anyone have a non 0870 number for Sky cancellations!
Many thanks in advance

hey im with virgin and the average bill without purhcasing movies would be about £50
i have
Broadband L
Telephone L
TV XL
be aware that you could wait upto a month before installation.0 -
Thanks for that - its getting even better!! I would need to make sure I had a month or so to record everything on my Sky+ box!
Would also need to make sure I didnt have to big a gap between sky stopping and Virgin starting as a certain 4 year old would go crazy without a daily fix of Playhouse Disney!:D0 -
Thought: Have you included the cost of the phone line rental in your calculations?*** This Space For Rent ***0
-
mrke - maybe not - on their site there is a 'bundle' calculator - using this is where I have got my figures from, will need to check back to see if it includes line rental.
Well spotted - thanks:T
EDIT - just checked and it would seem it doesnt include the line rental so my savings if switching are £3.ish a month excluding the discounted 2 months0 -
Make sure your order via a cashback site too and you will be about 65.00 better off at the moment (I'm sure it was much more a week or so ago?!?)
Kind Regards0 -
Thanks for that - wouldnt have thought of that!0

Don't forget that Virgin's call charges (0845/0870/0844 etc. and mobiles) are very expensive compared to other suppliers and are not in your Evenings and Weekends Package.0 -

Hi
Is it really worth changing to save £3.00 per month? Keep a check of which channels you are actually watching; you might be able to cut some channels to save money. You'll probably be surprised how few you actually do watch. Also if you cut some channels for a while Sky will probably offer you a deal on them in a few months time; i.e half price for a period of timeMFW 2025 #50: £1989.73/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00
