Also one other thing to ask, why won't my peas grown up my wigwam, I keep trying to help the with wire - but they seem useless of finding the poles and growing up themselves...am I supposed to have put net/wire inside wigwam ?
Very confused !
TIA

yes I grow lots of peas and you need to use peasticks for them to twirl up as they have little tendrils which need to grab onto little sticks - so use any old trimmings from shrubs with twiggy growth (i use dogwood as it has lots of extra side shoots). The peas won't twine around canes like runner beans.

chelltune wrote:Does anyone grow thai basil? I set a packet full of seeds but only have one plant growing. DO I just pick the leaves then it will continue to grow?
I have also grown corriander seeds, do these grow again once picked or once its used that it? I usually buy a plant from Asda, cut off all the corriander then chuck the plant away. I was wondering if there was a way to keep my seeds growing.
I don't grow coriander but lots of basil whcih i sprinkle over a pot of compost and keep well watered and I have 5 pots of cut and come again Basil. You need to cut it back to a nodule on the stem and it will regrow lots of times and repot when it looks sad! I keep mine on the windowsill and it deters flies too.0 -

cabbage, cauli, corn on the cob and a pumpkin also doing well:D
very happy as its our first year trying and we didnt think anything would work at all...but boy oh boy have we gotten the growing bug now!!0 -
Still have no photos but am excited that all of my tomato plants are thriving, even though they are out of doors. Also my chillis and peppers are bearing fruit!
The pepper plants are only 12" high - and I have seen photos of much bigger ones on this site, so am wondering if their growth was stunted (by my neglect to repot them soon enough at the earlier stages??). Should I syill expect full grown peppers from tyhe plants (currently I have 2, each are about 2" long) - the are Californian Wonder, if that helps?
Thanks

The borage I grew from seed is doing very well. The courgettes and French beans are steady. Tomatoes are green.
Some sage and oregano has taken. My sunflower is shooting up and showing a little flower head.
The eating apples are reddening and have a load of small cookers on their way. The strawberries are just about finished nowAn average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Need advice please.
Got quite alot of nice size tomatoes but they are still green, How long does it take for them to ripe? They are the outdoor type and have been like this for about 2 weeks. They are all mainly at the bottom of the plants and I have smaller new ones and flowers still at the top.
Thanks

Mine are also like this and are outdoors. It is still a bit early yet, I think, either way, but esp. if outdoors they won't be expected to ripen yet.
Make sure you have pinched them out properly so that the food is being directed to the fruit.
If you are in a hurry, you could try picking a few and placing them in a paper bag in a cool dark cupboard or drawer to force the process.0
