Not so sure about having wet sheets/towels/clothes in bed - doesn't it wet the mattress?

Like Rachie B, I find running cold water over my wrists help, also washing your feet in cool/cold water before bed also works wonders.

You just make the top sheet and clothes slightly damp by mist spraying it with water,(sorry, I didn't explain it very well before).

Another one I heard yesterday was open the loft hatch up at night and it gives the heat somewhere to escape to. We tried it last night and there was a real difference in heat.
thanks I will go and try that. It is so hot in my room as the radiator is always on when the hot water is on. phew:T

I heard some tips on radio 2 today:

Drink room temperature water, NOT chilled water.
Drink ordinary tap water NOT bottled water (bottles left in the sunlight are full of nasty bacteria)
As mentioned above - keep off the diuretics eg tea, coffee, alcohol (before about 8pm)
If you can get a breeze running through your house in the evening.
Have a tepid not cold shower (as with the room temp water, if it's chilled it shocks your body, the blood vessels constrict and you don't lose heat)

I've put iced water in front of a fan or wet towels at the window - they do work. I like the frozen bottle of water trick though :D

Our radiators do this too which caused our daughters room to be unbearably hot, poor little thing, so we've turned off the hot water. Our shower takes the cold water supply and we have a dishwasher so we won't miss it. I don't think.... Anyway it's much cooler in her room tonight so that's the main thing. Hopefully it'll save me money too!

Buxton rabbitgreen someone told me that if the radiator is on if the water is on something has gone wrong with the boiler a valve somewhere - Sorry to be vague , but i can't remember exactly. Might be worth a call to a friendly plumber.

Sorry if this is a bit off thread - but it sounds like the diverter valve in a combi boiler - ours has gone twice. When its not working at all you get really hot radiators and cold water - so definately get someone to look at it.:D
    I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I haven't tried this yet myself as I think it looks a bit unsightly, but a neighbou whos house is southfacing, tape tin foil on the windows, to reflect the sun, it must work as they have beeing doing this every summer for years! Might try it myself on my daughters room, its sw facing so come bedtime its soo very hot:rolleyes:
