Hi all, first post. Recently my chimney (landlords actually!) blew off and landed on my car doing quite a lot of damage. Following a bit of faff with the landlord i agreed to pay my excess £50 which he is paying back (as well as £150 extra costs) to get it fixed. I was happy with this. I told my insurance company direct line, that the car was damaged but i couldn't ascertain all the damage because it was dark. They told me not to worry the agent who collects it would assess it and write it all down. The agent picked it up put in on a trailer and filled in the form without me knowing, and drove off without me signing anything, and when i queried it he said he doesnt assess them the actual repair company would be in contact in a few days. This never happened. I tried to find out what they were doing with the car, nothing. Then they said on 3 occasions they'd send details through the post, nothing. Then said they'd send details with the driver who dropped it off, and when he returned, low and behold the damage was only half done. the major damage was completed but the other damaged panels were not. plus my stereo didnt work and my interior trim is hanging off. i had to pay because i needed the car but i refused to sign to say i was satisfied with the work. Ive informed direct line and they agree its not on, but i'm not sure what to do now? ive not signed off on any damages nor have i had any correspondence about the damage? can i get it completed? not sure how to proceed! any help would be great, ps sorry for the epic post!!!:o

hmmm so the chimney fell on the bonnet and damaged lots of other panels ha.
Im guessing they think your at it.0 -
I didn't say it landed on my bonnet. you did, it shattered on the roof before showering the car with debris, thus the wider damage pattern. Maybe you should ask before jumping to conclusions, just like they did?!?:o0

bonnet, roof and roof rail, windscreen and 1 wiper, driver wing and rear quarter passenger rear door and passenger window, the windscreen was put through but the rest were just dents, the main part fell in the windscreen.0

what kind of car is so flat that falling bricks can damage side panels?I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Well when they fell off the roof obviously some hit the side, ie its not parked directly against the house?! and others fell over the other side. How would i know i wasnt there to see it and i don't have a physics degree either? whats your point? Why the hell is everyone on here so against the idea that this happenend? are you going to help me? i came on here for genuine advice not to be messed around by you, for what i can see as no good reason?0

Look its an A4 that is a V reg but i take great care of it? are you accusing me of fraud/lying or whatever? cause this is a perfectly truthful claim, believe it or not? i just want to know what to do?0

Scrap it...with the amount of damage you claim was done..the insurance co. should have by the sounds of it.0

It's perfectly feasible for a falling chimney / masonary to damage a few or all panels on a car, I'm surprised it's not a write off.
You have done the correct thing by advising you are not happy with the repairs, the important thing to remember is that it is your Insurers problem to ensure the repairs are carried out correctly. Do not let them fob you off that it is the garages problem, any further repairs are for DL to sort out so direct your complaint / calls to them0
