Which is the best PAYG to use?
I only use my phone to do the briefest of calls, so which is the best provider to go for to get the best value for money?
Also if my phone is unlocked can I put a new sim card in and port my Orange number over?

the best at the moment seems to be t-mob giving think its 12p for any time any net calls most charge like 35p for any net calls
yes you can port your no (as long as network allows it) each network will have its own system you either need to give them the PAC code (what you need from orange to port it) when you first register or they will give you a temporary number untill your number kicks in

With all the offers and free credit they are waving around, easyMobile might be worth going for at the moment.

But if your usage is really low you'd get frustrated by their 75p monthly charge if you've spent less than £5 in the previous 3 months
