Specialist Socks - Outdoor Venture

A warning about Specialist Socks for any prospective purchasers on their web site and also E-bay trading under Outdoor Venture. Do NOT buy from them.
I recently purchased 3 pairs of Bridgedale Endurance Summit Knee Sock via my Paypal account unfortunately they did not arrive and I am now following Paypal’s dispute / claim procedure since e-mails have gone unanswered and they do not have a Telephone number listed or accept customers to either physically pick up any purchased goods or return unsuitable items. Further to this when reviewing the Outdoor – Venture an arm of Specialist Socks outfit on E-bay I noted a number of negative feedbacks that past customers posted having also had problems receiving goods.

Someone might come along and sue you. You need to be careful what you say these guys might not be too happy

    http://www.outdoorventure.co.uk/

and might come looking for damages
  • Thank you for your concern. To “sue” means to undertake legal proceedings, to take legal action against somebody in order to obtain something, usually compensation for a wrong. I have done no wrong and have stated the facts. I am using PayPal’s dispute procedure which tracks all e-mails and acts as an intermediary in such cases, I will be taking the case to claim through PayPal in the next few days.
The cost of the socks was £45 and sincerely ask here that Specialist Socks supply me with the goods I ordered or return my money and this matter can be closed.
When I say Do NOT buy from them that is my advise based on my experience whether you do or don’t is an individuals choice.
My complaint is with Specialist Socks and not Outdoor Venture however the facts regarding negative postings are on E-bay for Outdoor Venture which has the same postal address in Hertfordshire as Specialist Socks you can draw your own conclusion.

To update this Thread and with reference to my original and last post I have today 20.01.10 been refunded in full the amount via my PayPal account closing the dispute with Specialist Socks. I am grateful for the reimbursement and from my side the matter is closed.
I would however like to comment generally on purchasing from Web retailers where products are shown available for purchase and monies transferred from either your Credit Card or PayPal account only to find they are in reality out of stock or worse discontinued.
Several, even many sites do not call payment until the item has been dispatched which in my opinion is a much fairer procedure. You would normally expect the goods you paid for over the counter.
I have a personal example having ordered in early December 2009 through Play.com a DVD – Fleetwood Mac Early Years and advertised on the Web Site 1 to 2 weeks delivery, I am still waiting but not in dispute because no money has been debited from my Credit Card.

Perhaps buying socks just after Christmas wasn’t such a good idea!

Had exactly the same response from that foot company too. Payment taken but 3 weeks later no delivery, 3 e-mails later no response, they do not even publish your feedback on their testimonial website. Mmm , fraud. Just as well I'm a ____ as I'll now seek some fun with this lot. Time to play ball with an investigation!!:D
  • Yeah, I am in the same boat. Gloves ordered on 13 Jan 2010, chased, one email reply from them, nothing more. I have sent them three chaser emails, but no replies at all.

Any feedback on this from you guys would be well received....
  • After 3 e-mails and warning them I was now going to follow it through with my own course of action they eventually replied. Of course they denied any knowledge of the first two e-mails. Didn't like what I said and have refunded me the money back into my bank account today. They said that the Delivery Company had no record of the order and could not explain where the goods were. No apology given or offer to resend goods but just saying they would refund. Dire Customer Service. Too many good companies out there who could do with the trade in these times but this is not one of them. Last time I trade with them. Investigation still required.
  • It may be of interest that outdoor venture, specialist socks and ontherun.co.uk appear to be one of the same although ontherun appears not to be trading at the moment.

Another big warning about ”Outdoor Venture”! Do not buy from them! I recently purchased 3 pairs of x-bionic clothing: X-Bionic Mens Running Speed Shirt, X-Bionic Mens Running Short and X-Sock Run Energizer Compression Sock. The entire cost was £ 124,22. I have payed with my Mastercard. Payment taken but 4 weeks later no delivery, a lot of mails later no response. I am using Mastercard dispute procedure and I already done a complaint to the internet police.
  • Just another warning about :naughty:SpecialistSocks.co.uk:naughty:. I'm still hoping to see my refund of 115 £ they promised me 7 weeks ago after not being able to deliver my order of 29-May-2010 (more than 3 months ago). But since they haven't responded to any following mails the money is most likely lost.

Thanks to "x-bionic & x-socks" and after a lot of mails sent to the customer service of x-bionic IT, x-bionic UK and x-bionic USA, these bad persons have refunded me the money back into my credit card. :)
I have not received any apology from them, but the important thing is that they failed to keep my money. :j
Another time I do not recommend buying from "OutdoorVenture".
