I'm thinking of redecorating and have seen some sprayers that seem to work on the tv but has anyone used one in real life and are they worth investing in?

Errm - no! Why - because by the time you've faffed about getting everything masked up and then have to deal with the clean up afterwards you will have completed the job with a roller and been doing something else useful for a couple of hours.ihategossips wrote: »I'm thinking of redecorating and have seen some sprayers that seem to work on the tv ..................... and are they worth investing in?

Thanks for that but if you do all the masking up anyway would it really make a difference.. only checking cos I'm pregnant and didn't want to have to kill myself with rollers and paint brushes...Team PINK arrived 28/05/2010 8lb 9oz0

Like all of the TV Info commercials, they are rarely as good as they appear.0

It is not a popular technique in UK but a very common technique routinely used in most new builds in spain.
I doubt it is worth the cost to buy the equipment and effort if you are doing only one room. It is not so easy either, unless you have experience.
I would suggest paint brush and rollers is the way to go. Can your babies father to be help out?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Why would you need to be doing that anyway?ihategossips wrote: »Thanks for that but if you do all the masking up anyway would it really make a difference.

Hiya,
I bought one from Aldi and it was hopeless! It dripped more paint onto the floor then it sprayed onto the walls. The compressor was really loud and it vibrated your hands badly!
I would buy your friends a few beers and have a painting party and use good rollers instead!

I also think they are hopeless.
My advice if you are not a great painter is get a paint pad set!
I find them really quick and easy to use. They are also easy to rinse out and cheap to replace the pads should you need to. I have repainted my bedroom walls with two coats whilst my husband has been at work! The room was dry and rearranged before he returned!
I have always found that unless you purchase expensive brushes and are efficient at cleaning them properly, you end up with lots of loose bits hairs on your painted finish. Although I prefer to use brushes on woodwork, I do like the paint pads for walls and ceilings. Like anything, ceilings take a bit of practice.
I saw a good offer on ideal home recently.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

spraying is only suitable for (very) large areas. ie industrial/commercial premises.
take no notice of anyone who tells you any different.Get some gorm.0 -
Dont bother we only use them to mist coat large new build houses before any 2 nd fix and yes every thing has to be masked up, even though coverage is better you use lots more paint0
