Very Very Very Angry! The 3rd and (hopefully) final installment of this gripping saga

So. On Friday, I was over the moon because I had reduced my overdraft by £400, and called Lloyds to lower my limit accordingly. 'No problem' they said, and did it. 'Yippee' I thought, I'm on my way! I'd left enough of a 'cushion' in my account to pay any DDs that went out before more money goes in this Friday, and was very chuffed at myself. However, when I woke up and checked my account this morning like a good DF wannabe, I saw that three of my DDs tat went out today had been returned - even though I wasn't at my overdraft limit. Great I thought! I'm going to be charged for the returns from Lloyds, AND the loans the DDs were paying off. whopee. So I called Lloyds, and Vikram in Bangalore answered. 'But Madam,' quoth Vikram, 'you do not have an overdraft facility'. I explained that I did, and had had for the past x years or so. 'No madam, you do not.' Bless him, no matter how hard he tried, Vikram just could not understand that my experience may be different from what the computer was telling him. By now it was 7:59 am, and Vikram dutifully informed me that he couldn't help me as the specialist department I needed didn't open till 8:00 am. 'No problem, I'll wait'. Clearly my bl**dy mindedness paid off, because at 8:05, I got put through to Debbie in personal accounts, who informed me that indeed, I had had an overdraft facility, but since friday, this had only been a temporary measure - she said that it had probably been closed because I spent too much time in my overdraft, and the bank had closed it TO GET ME TO CALL THEM  (an answer machine message or email would have been more than adequate!) It turns out the idiot I spoke to to lower my limit had indeed lowered it, but only for a day or so - she'd clicked on temporary instead of ongoing! Obviously, Debbie didn't once apologise for their balls up, or for the distress that it caused me, thinking that I suddenly had to pay back more than a grand before I could use my account!!!! She's supposed to be making sure the payments are resent as we speak, but was unable to confirm that LLoyds would cover any charges incurred from the people the dds were going to - apparently, I have to take a morning off work and go in to the bank myself to sort that out! what made me angriest was that she said they'd refund the returned DD charges "AS A GESTURE OF GOOD WILL" Good will? Good will? IT'S MY MONEY THAT THEY TOOK ILLEGALLY!! Thank god I was able to get it sorted out this morning, As with anyone in debt, a couple of unfair charges really do have the power to send me spiraling towards bankruptcy!!!! :eek:UPDATE: Debbie called back, theoretically DDs have all gone out now as normal. Hmmm. Will double check that with egg methinks!

oh my goodness
where do these banks get off sometimes!!! i can completely understand how this would make you quite angry. i know i would be blowing several gaskets.
have you ever noticed though, that they don't expect us to check our bank accounts daily (sometimes more), so that they can do whatever they like with our money then surprise us with charges at the end of the month. i often find missing £1s from my account and have to call them and say 'where's my £1 gone??!!!'. not the same but it shows they're all 'tricksy little hobbitses!!'
glad it's sorted.MFW Newbie - #17. (#116 in 2019)

Dont get me started on the balls ups that LTSB are capable off with thier india/ wales arms.
Incidentally, my freind wrote to Ltsb after they did something much less harsh to her, and she got a £200 compensation. Im not saying dig dirt for the sake of it, but this sort of crap customer service ( if you can call it that) is something you need to be letting people know about. You never know, you might get something out of it. You muight not, but it might prevent this sort of thing happeneing again:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I'm with you on this one.
Lloyds have cancelled my overdraft also - and now are constantly harrasing me to 'pay back' the money I owe. However, I have been reducing my overdraft monthly with a payment of £150 - cancelling my overdraft will not make me pay any quicker - I am paying all I can."A simple life freely chosen is a source of strength. arghhh blasted tsb i tell you my OH has just closed his account there and opened one at barclays although im not too sure about them either!? he still has his OD at tsb so its frozen rather than closed and he is going to just go in each month and pay it off like that because he got into it and couldnt get out of it because they kept charging silly money for him going over!
good rant i agree hun! i would prob write a letter too and let them know your a bit peed off at them!"You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need"
